Just figure I give out the weekly (possibly switching to biweekly) blog post were I talk at you and you go about your day :3
My weekend was excellent for the most part, I reconnected with an old friend of mine and spent the day with her (oh yes) and even though my roommate is socially awkward, it was of no real issue as we had a good time together.
On the Starcraft front, I haven't played many ladder games (more like 0 games) but I have been playing through the wings of liberty campaign on hard. I really enjoy the experience, its not too hard, but its not too easy. Its challenging, but I find it extremely rewarding. I like experiencing a story unfold and driving the characters of a story to their ultimate goal, it's an extremely immersive experience for me.
But, with my relatively open week (educationally speaking) I have been thinking and reflecting about where I want to go in life, where I want to end up and the process of getting there. I've realized many of things since I've gone to college, both about myself and many of the people I know.
I have come to a profound conclusion though. I think that the meaning of life is to learn. To acquire knowledge about the world and about yourself, your strengths and your weaknesses; everything. I also made an ultimate objective for myself as well, it is to achieve mastery of myself: mentally, emotionally and physically. The Greeks would call this goal excellence, but it is just what I want to do (calling it excellence makes it sound like it would make me superior in ways to others, which makes me sound like I'm full of it).
Don't get me wrong, having friends and relationships with people is extremely important to me (my good friends are my allies for life and we all depend on each other), but social competence is but one aspect in life and I've decided to start focusing on mental mastery (doing well in college and applying myself in all ways to learning). Although enjoying video games is something I have always liked to do and will continue to :3
This is just a summary of my reflections on life. I hope you take something from all this, but if you just enjoyed the foray into my mind, I'm satisfied with that too.
Until next time,
Mike (aka Sunstrider aka TRIFLING GNOME)
