To give you a perspectie, i was a pretty decent eu Zerg on ladder, with almost 3k ladder games, over 3k overall. I've been around the 300. place point wise, sometimes i fell back, sometimes i broke into the top 200.
I was rather sad, that only the points got reset not the MMR too. So i was looking forward, and seeing 30 straight losses in a row, considering other players' history like MorroW's 2 page worth of loss streak.
Protoss is so ridiculous actually, that even though i was sure i ll get my ass handed to me for the first 30-40 games, i handicapped myself by deciding:
1.) to not ever 4 gate
2.) to not ever 1 base allin
3.) to not ever canon rush
4.) to not use proxy buildings
5.) to not DT rush
At least for a while, untill i ll get some mechanics down, then i can play around with some shenanigans like those
I'm proud to say, that finally i gained one win in every matchup.
Sitting on a record of 5-17, i won 3 PvZs, 1 PvT and finally, after a series of loss to 4 gates i finally won a PvP
I'll give you my first wins
He goes for roach drops with burrow, i make no observer or prepare to the drop, i lose my main and i let roaches behind my natural mineral line. From here i exped again, raped his pack of Hydras with phoenix voidray, killed whatever i could, then demolished his Corruptor fleet at his 3rd base wtih my fleet, and then walked in with some stalkers for the win, pretty hillarious :D
I had in mind Tyler's warpgate-upgdes-colossus style, i butchered it really hard though with getting immortals, and upgding from 1 forge only iirc but at the end of the day, it worked out because i had sentries, damn forcefields are ridiculous
Since my vowes to not 4 gate, i wanted to go for Artosis' 3 stalker rush, missed a pylon T.T but got 4 stalkers this way, but he wasnt really agressive so after some poking he went back and exped so i geared up for a Colossus-warpgate push while taking my exp. Since he went for leg speed i a moved trough him pretty much
I had an emberassing loss PvT, losing a game from a point where i had 65 probes on 3 base compared to his 19 and 2 base, wanting to take a 3rd. that was pretty sad QQ.
But overall it's pretty fun, i lost my appetite to play with Zerg, everybody was just allining and i hardly could do anythnig about it but guess which allin it is, and the sad part was who wasnt allining was actually harder to beat because of the ridicuolusly weak Zerg maxed army. i was frustrated that pretty much 1 mistake costs me the game every single time, while my opponents can make hillariously huge blunders and come back with some bullshit units like VRs, banshees, DTs or Medavacs.
With P, even though my APM is shitty, my mechanics are weak and my timings are non existent i can win games or come close to it and lose by not having any infrastructure, cuz i didnt know i would need it. I can make huge mistakes, forget important things, lose big battles and still make comebacks. PvP is an unforgiving matchup, but PvT is a bit easier then i would have expected, and PvZ is just ridicuolusly P favored. I literally go into the game without any plan and things just work out well.
This might be some bold statements given i have lost a tone more then i won, but given my MMR which took me almost 3k games with Zerg to get, winning games this soon, and coming close to win many more, (losing due to clearly identifiable stupid mistakes) is surprising.
For PvT and PvP i'm trying to learn from Artosis's 2 youtube tutorials (vs 1base T and the 3 stalker), from the Guide on Tyler's PvT build and i might try day9s idea on holding off 4 gates.
I recommend this to any other fresh tosses out there.
Thanks for reading, advice is welcome, if you have good anti 4 gate builds, or a guide to Phoenix based PvP or PvT write them, link them, embed them, i will be greatful.
