I have 4 teams who have partnered with me: tQ, REQ, tG, and Beercraft. They will all be coaches. I have over 40 confirmed coaches already. I have literally pulled about 6 all-nighters in the past 2 weeks on this site. I have excel spreadsheets full of data, contacts, and graphs. I am developing a legitimate 30+ page business plan which will be completed at the end of April as it is my final for my Entrepreneurial Finance class. I can keep going, but I think I've already shown i'm DOING more than you think. Sounds like you've poured quite a bit of work into this, keep it up. It's a great idea, and it'd be fantastic to see this idea come to fruition.

But you have to give a good amount of attention to the point system, since it looks like a lot will run around them. Must have 24/7 active moderators on forum to stop spamming in order to gain points. The selling points idea sounds really nice, but I don't know if it will work since you can get them for free just by posting. I think you have to give some attention to this matter, I mean, balance how many points will be needed for a session, and how much the points will cost (if bought). //tx

Couple questions: Are you planning to use the Chris Anderson "Free" type model where everything is free but you sell ad space and offer a premium option to get rid of ads. How much will points be worth? It is not good enough to say you are doing something for the community, you need to be able to monetize it. Are you actually coding the website or did you outsource it?

Also, one of the benefits of scheduled coaching is that a coach can learn a student quite well in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. With a random coach you'll have fairly generic advice that can't build upon previous sessions.

NEVER post about something like that before it's ready... At best you will get compliments or at least "no flames". At worst you your idea will get stolen and done "quicker" by a more ressourceful entity.

I am near completion and will be launching soon, so I've basically waited until now to get community feedback on a public basis. Thanks for that advice Velr!

It will be an incentive/award for those who do. I agree and thank you for your advice on personalized sessions. I am working on a way for coaches and students to have repeat/private sessions as well. Also, each coach will describe their specialties which will help students when choosing a coach.

TheAldo, Initially, coaches will help me recover my costs. Eventually I would like to operate on primarily ad space and donations. Points will be worth a set amount. 10 points will = $1 USD. Coaching will start at 70 points ($7) per hour. I've got it all planned out and it will be very reasonably priced, and at the same time it could very well be free because I will have many ways to acquire points besides paying =) Top 3 coaches per month will receive bonuses, which gives them incentives to do well too! I am both outsourcing and have friends who design.

You know how most hair salons work? You rent out the seat each month and use the tools given to you buy the hair salon to run your business (scheduling and the such). Basically the hair salon creates the infrastructure for the stylists to run an efficient business. What about if you did a coaching site like that? Coaches pay you a percentage for using the scheduling and the rest of the infrastructure, they don't have to deal with that hassle and just have to coach. Is that kind of what you are thinking?

One web app that uses this model successfully is forrst.com. They use Acorns that can be earned by activity to allow you to invite other members or promote your projects through Forrst. You can also buy acorns. Very similar, so I would say give it a shot. The best thing about web business models is things can easily be tested and changed. The only concern I would have is people abusing the system by trolling and spamming and not adding anything of worth. However do yourself a favor and don't answer how you will handle that.

Thank you, I will contact Emythrel and see what opportunities may exist between us. ggofthejungle, Yeah, definitely. I've got it all mapped out and almost finished, just adding some final edits to the site. Thanks Zefa!
