I go to what I would consider to be a fairly competitive high school, and everyone is loading up on APs so that they can get rid of general education requirements in college. I'm a lazy senior, so I'm looking for reasons to avoid taking more AP tests (especially humanities ones)... There's one line of reasoning that I'm stuck on so far.
Most people take AP classes to get rid of general education requirements at schools (such as introductory humanities/english/writing classes, etc...) right? I'm probably going to major in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer science wherever I end up going, so if I'm not taking any/a few general education classes, then HOW THE FUCK DO I MEET GIRLS?

Are you dorming? If so, you'll meet girls, don't worry.
If you're not, it's a bit harder, but if you make an effort at it, it's not a big deal.
Classes aren't really that great for meeting girls that way anyway.
|
Most schools still have a fairly robust general education program, you won't be able to test out of everything. Meeting girls in college outside of class requires only basic social skills, especially if you live in the dorms. Just be proactive when it comes to making friends and socializing and you'll be fine.
|
You are going to a modern, non-segregated university? How do you not meet girls?
|
You can't just walk up to someone and start a conversation?
By the way, I'm sure there won't be exactly zero attractive girls in your classes.
Also, join clubs.
|
Alcohol may or may not be your best friend, just remember in your stupidity to be smart.
|
Try to get into co-ed dorms. They are the best.
|
All schools make events for the most stupid reasons. Go to those! You should meet a ton of people in welcome week too! TONS! If there are any workshops take the time to go attend too... Girls in your major / upper div classes will be the ones you'll talk to the most anyway too, so don't worry so much about lower divs.
In the end, I totally agree with MoltkeWarding.
How do you expect not to meet girls?!

Um, this doesn't sound good, but in the world of engineering, the girls aren't very attractive
The hot chicks are usually in teaching :/

very few girls in the engineering field, make sure you get yourself into a coed dorm, the ones that separate you by floors are ok but id try real hard to get one like my freshman dorm that let us mingle on the same floor, you just shared a bathroom with another room of the same sex, was very nice. also you just gotta head out to events, school events or parties, football and bball games are good, break out of your shell, i went to a college in a completely different state with no one i knew to force myself to branch out and it worked, meeting the girls isnt hard, its keeping them around that is the challenge for college guys
edit: intramural co-ed sports teams are also a great place, most dorm floors create their own teams, or my school has a free agent meeting for people who dont have enough people to make a whole team and they just lump you together with other random people, great way to do it as well

I've done both engineering and teaching at college, and the above statement is absolutely correct.

Dude. You'll see girls. Plenty of them if you get lucky. Just increase that luck with co-ed dorms. You'll still meet them out of class and at parties. Just make sure to bring that vodka with ya.

Why were my teachers middle age ~ old hags all this time. I want proof that the hot chicks are in teaching.

I have haven't met anyone in class. The classroom atmosphere isn't like high school, you're not there for anywhere as much time and none of it is spent socializing. You don't sit in a circle on the first day and introduce yourself to your classmates like in hs. You'll meet people in the dorms mostly and in any activities you take part in. Besides engineering is like 80% dudes and it'll feel like more.
The better question is why in the fuck would you not take the humanities AP's? They don't require any studying; its one three hour pop and you get 3 credits (I assume you'll 5 them from you're previous blogs). I'm all for being lazy but those AP's fill the humanities requirements for whatever school you attend (yes even in engineering), if you don't take them now you'll have to take more humanities classes later -.- Edit: gram's

Yeah I think my gen ed and teaching classes were 5x better than my math/science classes :p
You can meet people by going to 'things' other than class. For example, going to parties and events on the weekends.

Go to the Rutgers Graduate School of Education. A very good amount of the girls in any of our teaching subjects (including mathematics) are attractive
That being said, there are undoubtedly countless attractive girls in many other fields too, in any college.

You can find out about random social events and just walk up to people and start talking to them. (usually best to walk up to a person that's not currently engaged with a group, but going up to a whole group can work too)
Or you can sit down beside a girl that's alone in a class (ie no one sitting beside her) and introduce yourself and start talking to them.
If either of these are too difficult for you then too bad, you should be able to do them! I met tons of people this way and have never had a bad experience as a result. Most friends I tell this to have the hardest time and are so timid so I practically need to force them but they're always thankful.
Take a fucking chance right, what are you going to do sit in wendys and read people magazine until the end of TIME?! Sit alone and play with yourself for the next forty YEARS? Take a chance!
Good luck sir

+ Show Spoiler + major in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer science
I am an EE (probably going to double major in ECE and EE), and what your classmates are doing is what I would recommend. AP classes get rid of really dumb classes you take in college, they are generally a waste of time. I would recommend doing chemistry, physics, calculus, some humanities classes, and english. They do however buffer your college GPA.
Getting ladies? Go talk to people.

Of course these people age and teachers have had many years of education, making them the old hags we all know.
