I was like this for pretty much my entire eSports career - you don't need to play, or to even fully understand the game to be able to contribute/to become a huge fan. For me it was all about capturing the moments which defined those years, improving my own photography skills, and bringing the foreign fans closer to their Korean gamer idols. SC and SC2 provide a lot of different things to different people which are in no way always related to actually playing the game.

GL with trying it out in the future :D I'm sure once you get going you'll find a lot of fulfilment in actually gaming, and it'll only add to your experience when you watch the matches.

OMG can we be friends? I'm almost the same as you!!! I only play a little (yes only a tiny little bit) Zerg and most of the time I just watch and read everything SC-related and I still have a lot to figure out. I've only been into Sc for about 3 months

I follow like 40 ppl on tweet and about 30 of them are involved with SC

) I collect progamer pics and dream about SC everynight!
Yes. I'm not really a SC player but I'm one of the biggest fans :x If you play, let's play together sometimes ^^

Once you start playing the game you'll have dreams about everything (the units, games, etc) +_+. When I play too much Starjeweled I see jewels when I close my eyes.

Good luck! Play lots. It's a lot of fun and if you don't like the competitive side of laddering, there is always the COMPETITIVE SIDE OF STARJEWELED.

I've watched Proleague for years, as well as a few seasons of GSL, and I don't play BW or SC2...I didn't even know about the pro scene when I was playing BW and by the time I discovered it and TL, I had long since lost interest in playing...

I'm just around for the community / spectating / hosting events now.

So, there's others out there like you that don't play but love the game, lol. Simplest way to get into BW/SC2 is to just load up the game and play, and...probably the biggest factor is to not get discouraged when you lose, and try your best to learn from your mistakes. That's probably the biggest hurdle for a lot of people.
