How long does it take to grind a bud? Is say 20 dollars a bud worth the time it takes?
|
Not to be an asshole or anything, but I really hope you had fun doing this, because $100 really isn't that much cash for 5 months.

Eve-online. A guy I know claims to have sold a titan for $5k RMT is not allowed in the game but its still pretty rampant. I guess that kind of money would be good if it was kind of a windfall but if you had to grind it you'd be better off working a normal job.

Unless you're bot farming in WoW I don't think there is anyway to make money playing a video game. That's if you consider botting to be playing...which it really isn't.

Trading is like... leisurely making money/something on the side. I wouldn't compare it to a real job at all. When I play TF2 to actually play, I enjoy it

Well, I mean without being a super talented pro gamer.

For the longest time, I've been thinking of selling my shit: http://www.tf2items.com/id/0825771
I know some hats in the game go for 3-400 dollars. It's so ridiculously stupid.

Pretty impressive! Especially the max head. I'd say you could get more than $200.

I sold some adena (gold) I made in lineage 2 through botting. I never got serious about it and sold it to a reseller. I think I made a couple hundred dollars - it was so long ago.
I also sold my WoW account.
If I wanted to get serious about selling virtual items I would learn how to program bots. It's a matter of scaling and you can't individually make a lot of money manually playing.

Two games, that I know of. One is Tibia, a game extremely popular in Brazil. So much so that the most uttered sentence is "Br, br?" I had a buddy of mine who sold his character for $1200 USD. The second that I know of is Ragnarok Online. On kRO you can sell third class Trans characters to players for anywhere from 500-1000$ USD. Certain Items, like Golden Thief Bug card which drops one in a million on a monster that spawns twice a day, used to sell for 5000-10000 USD on iRO server.
There's also EVE online, but I don't know much about that.

Well im doing Athemes challenge for 1k also i was teaching my good friend playing SC2 for free food in his restaurant, god i miss that times

EVE online is very similar to WOW, in that you need to pay to play, but you can certainly make a lot of money buying and selling stuff in game.

Ah brings back the days when I got a Windforce in DII and sold it for something like $500-$600. Those were the days....
I don't know of any games offhand you can buy/sell and it's worth your time anymore, but best of luck I guess.

Back in the day, I had a Level 86 Amazon and I was so young at the point I trusted some guy who turned around and stole my account. It didn't have AWESOME gear on it, but it was still good and I was still FURIOUS. However, I contacted Blizzard, gave them my CD key, and they reset the account's password and gave it back to me.
I got my Amazon back FULLY DECKED OUT with Windforce, hex charms, white rings, white gloves and I believe there were also Shakos etc etc.

Sigh... I don't want to openly admit that I used to play runescape. But I did. And I could sell accounts for up to $600 american. There are a couple sites where you buy lesser accounts - bot them - and sell them for almost twice the price. It would take maybe 20-30 days each account, but you can do multiple accounts during that time.
My biggest investment was $250 and I botted for about a month and a half, sold it for $600. The risk factor is high though. You can get caught 'botting' and then it's bye bye to your initial investment. Also, some players ( if you didn't do the transaction properly ) could recover accounts you bought. So they could sell an account over and over to multiple 'suckers'. It was a vicious market. Also, gold farming was alright money. You could make $30 off of a 10-20 mill. Which is retarded easy to get with a high level account.
Not to mention that some items go for over a thousand american lol. It's insane. But those are very few and are special rare items that only came out at Christmas 7 years ago.
If done right, you could potentially not even work a real job. But that's just silly. Besides, Chinese gold farmers have noticed how much money is in runescape and they have diluted a lot of prices because well... they are Chinese after all. Working for 30 cents an hour making $30 an hour for their boss.
All in all, I'm glad I left when I did, and I made pretty close to a grand in profit in under 3 months.
edit: oh ya, and everything is done over paypal cc, so once a transaction is through, it's impossible to refund. Cha-ching!

You made $100 in 3 months, nice!, thats like... 5 hours of work

I used to sell D2 items on ebay. d2jsp had some really amazing rate where you could trade Neopoints (I was young, okay?) for fg and buy D2 items and then sell the items for cash. I thought I was pretty clever lol
|
Lol how much could i sell a few billion neopoints for :D
edit: wtf are they seriously worth that much?
I have so much crazy hacked shit that i could sell lol... Might take a trip and see what i can dump then.. No way 1m neopoints is 10 dollars lol... i mean that stuff is so easy to come by i dont understand how it can be worth so much Like, tons of people are stocked up on super peas and they go for like, 250m-350m each or something afaik, and if you wanna compete battledome you need at least like, 700m to do anything decent
Wow thats funny lol
|
i havnt played WoW in years, but what would a season 2/season 3 gladiator level 80 druid be worth?
|

I forget the conversion rate but 50 million neopoints was about $2k of D2 items at the time xD At the time super peas were about 50m?

You could try Tibia, its an old game and a year ago or so i was making like $100 per month by playing a couple of hours a day.

LOL that was gold.
But it is right. You can surely pull a few change by selling rare items in almost any popular game, specially RPGs. Be them Tibia, Runescape, Eve, UO, WoW, etc. I'm sure you will find people willing to trade real for virtual. When I used to play Tibia, a player bought me a 6 months membership (40$) for around 100k game gold. This amount used to take around 2 months to get. Some players could sell rares back them for as high 500$. Though those used to take years to get a hold, since they were worth more than 1.5 million golds in game.
If you want to make money seriously, though, you gotta find a job in the industry. Be it a tester, pro gamer, coder, caster, graphic artist.
NaDa made a lot of $.$ playing SC. Probably the best played player during his prime...
