I used to use a mousepad but it had this really annoying gel wristrest so I just stopped using a mousepad altogether. I find that my cheap, worn-out, 20-year-old IKEA desk works just fine with my intellimouse explorer 3.0. maybe i'd be able to tell the difference if i used a mousepad, but if i can get away feeling just fine without one i might go so far as to say that you'd be wasting your money if you bought an expensive mousepad.
