The Free Coaching Thread

Lately I’ve seen the trend of non top players offering free coaching to those with lower skill levels. Hey, this is fine. Some have been in general. Some have been in blogs. This thread is an attempt to centralize FREE coaching from players. This will be a thread in which those wishing to give lessons can give an appropriate means to contact them, whether it be a link to a thread they have made for widespread coaching, or basic information. This is an attempt to centralize those who wish to provide free coaching. Here is a basic layout for how to add a request.

I can coach people plat-diamond. (also, i only coach people who accually plays the game. So don't ask if you only got like 20 games played.)
Ask me ingame if i'm online; "want to coach me?"
You must have skype to make things easier and quicker to explain and correct.

Anyone who wishes to charge for lessons will not be added to the OP. This is not gosucoaching.

I am on the North American server only.

Skype is a MUST have and a MUST use in order to have quality sessions.

Also note that players may only schedule one lesson at a time and I will probably give first priority to new students.

Please be sure that you give me the following information in your personal messages through TL. This will help me prepare the best possible lesson I can for you.
- Bnet ID
- Skype ID
- Which ONE matchup you want to focus on for the session
- What level player you are including current league and an MMR approximation (what level players you are regularly matched up against while laddering)
- What are your strengths in general and in the specific matchup you are focusing on
- What are your weaknesses in general and in the matchup you are focusing on
- What build order(s) you are currently using for the matchup and which ONE you want to practice during the session (if you are unsure what build order to use I will teach you one)

I see so many of the exact thread come into existence...and then disappear. Nevertheless, this is definitely a good idea.

I've been #1 in my silver league since Nov and cannot seem to break into gold. I watch plenty of videos and feel like I really understand the game well, but tend to utterly fail at execution. So yeah a coach would to help me from time to time would be sweet!

Ladder level: Diamond terran.
Tournament wins/other achievements: Never made it past first round in any tournament.
Races coached: I've coached players from all 3 races, with some relatively high level players who I can always ask for advice if I'm stuck.
Levels coached: Mostly gold-plat and below, I can probably help diamonds but I doubt anything earth shattering.
Preferred means of contact: PM me, or whisper on b.net either works although it's probably easier if you contact me online so we can talk.

Actually, we have a online system could be used to set up to do that efficiently.
It is not designed to do free coaching, but i guess it will work.

Basically the idea is to have an expert offer lessons, once the expert sign up, he or she will have a very short link which could be used to all the clients to book sessions. (e.g: http://ex.gs/4mVG5B) Anyone could book a session and the expert need to approve it. After that they could exchange information about the service. In our case, it will be the id in SC2.

The service is not necessarily free, but I suppose many of the players here would be happy to offer free service. If anyone would like to try, just go to http://expert.io

Hopefully, this would make the free coaching easier.

Actually check with this thread.

It probably will do a better job of organizing things, this is inherently difficutl.

I just spent an hour with KeX learning some PvP, it was great! He taught me a build n gave me tips on how to use it correctly and how to transition if it fails etc, as well as advice about the general PvP match up. He's a friendly guy n seems to know a lot I definitely recommend him for any other protoss out there!

Had sessions with both KeX and Coolent, it's been great so far.

Two session a with KeX and one sessions with Coolent so that's a little over 3 hours in total and I have to say that it's helped me a lot already.
The reason I asked for coaching is because I started out in Platin, went down to Gold and now down to Silver...
Now that I've had coaching sessions, I know what I've been doing wrong and now understand the game mechanics much better.

If you're looking for a coach, I definitely recommend these guys!

Hey there I'm a platinum protoss who can't seem to get into the diamond level. I noticed this thread and saw that people sincerely want to coach but there hasn't been much reception so I figured I'd put my name out for some help and see what happens. I feel I do pretty well with macro and forcefields but fail when it comes to applying pressure and attack timings. PM me if you'd like to give it a shot, hope to hear from ya.

im offering PAID coaching for al races, im good with the more general stuff , decision making, transitions etc, i dont focus that much on EXACT build orders.. i main zerg and used to main terran, played prottoss only a bit. im top diamond, but i think im far better coach than player
rates are 20$ 1 hour.. 10 hours = 150$ 20 hours = 200$

i think my coaching would be benefitial to any bronze, silver, gold plat or low diamond player who is willing to improve, regardless of race,i have coached players from all races

if you want more information just PM me, im in NA servers

Anyone who would pay for coaching from a diamond player is silly, you can get proffesional coaches for not a hell of a lot more money.

Im willing to do a few hours coaching, PM me if youre interested im on US server, 3300 master toss.

will give out more details when/if someone PMs me. prefer someone who is active and wants to be a good player. I can use skype if you want, but if you dont have skype im a fast typer

how do you justify coaching masters players when your a 3100 diamond?

In general I don't mean to sound BM but diamond players really shouldn't justify coaching lower levels when they are 3k + doesn't it really mean that you can't get promoted? idk. glad ppl are coaching though.

It is great for people to be offering free coaching, but to be honest if they aren't charging it is probably because people would not want to pay to be coached. If you are serious about the game enough to improve by getting 1 on 1 coaching, you should hit some of the top players of your race on Gosucoaching.com. Not everyone is an extremely high price. If you aren't that serious about clawing your way through the top of your Regional Server than have fun and enjoy some free coaching, although you will not learn as much and might have a bad experience because when you aren't paying for a coaches time, they really have no reason to fully pay attention and help you as much as you might like.

Some people coach for free even if they're really good at it just because they want to share their knowledge with others and help people out without adding a price tag to it. Paying for coaching doesn't make trying to learn any more serious as getting free coaching...

I have met a lot of top level players who never paid for a lesson in their entire life but are in top 200. I don't know where you are getting your assumptions from but to hit the top 200 of your said server takes more then just coaching. Many people(like myself) can't afford coaching because we aren't going to shell out 100+ dollars to get multiple hours of coaching. I offer coaching to a bunch of people and most of them have improved in some shape or form and I don't charge. Some have asked if I charge but I have declined just because I am doing this not for monetary gain but to just help people.

I wish to do some coaching to make some money in the future, however I don't want to coach somebody, take there money, and then do a bad job. I wish to be professional and help people and consequently, I want to offer some free coaching as a practice run for me. If you're interesed, please let me know and i'll be happy to do what I can to help you.

As of right now, i'm thinking i'll throw up a slot just to give people an opportunity to say I can do something at a set time. Tomorrow, 3/16 at 8 PM EST I can coach somebody. I'd be most comfortable teaching somebody platinum or lower in any race, though protoss players would be preferred but I do offrace as zerg on occastion.

I do have a solid understanding of all matchups since I do a lot of casting for tournaments and of pro replays that I find (youtube.com/zanderfeverSC - judge for yourself if I do know the game or not) so I can help a little in all match ups

Hope somebody can find some of this helpful

Idk if we should be updating our information but I guess i will..

im 3350 masters random player

Im not accepting students atm(i have gotten 15+ already) unless you would consider paying me like minimum 75 cents an hour or something just because I'm dedicating way too much time :S . None of my students have had problems with coaching, Ive coached all races at all levels so yeah.

Additional notes: It would be really helpful if you can sort some replays for me to watch of your play, if you come to me saying help my PvZ here are 5replays showing what i struggle with, i can help a lot more than if you just say "help my PvZ".

I havent done much coaching at all, but i know the game and english is my first language.

People here offering coaching are doing it because we want to help people. Im going to be as helpful as i can and do the job as if i was being paid.

Also you dont need high level coaching to get good at this game.

Thank you so much guys! I had a lot of fun doing this. Lookz like z33k.com will be listing me as a coach over there so i'm really ecstatic to make this a full time job. Its really going to help me with prize money for the tournaments I hold.

Looking forward to future sessions

When a top tier player coaching a platinum player for 1 hour. It's less effective compare to a Master player coaching for 3 hour.

Hi

I'm a middle gold terran, have played a few hundred games (Mostly custom games though, only about 40 on ladder). I have been playing quite a lot lately and plan on doing so even more, but the problem is... i can't seem to wrap my head around TvP no matter what i do. TvZ is my best matchup and i do ok in TvT...What I am looking for is a few solid builds against protoss/terran as well as timings and anything else you might want to throw in. It's not that I couldn't find these things on youtube or by watching other games (I've done a lot of searching and watching before coming here to cry, lol) but I seem to always mess up the execution/multitasking and I hope that a coach could help me to apply them better. I'm from Romania, playing on EU server, character is Rumeye.559. I can communicate through Skype, IMs or whatever means the coach prefers and my English is very good. During weekdays I can only play after 7pm EET (+2GMT), anytime during weekends. Please use TL pm or in-game chat for contact. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks you

Just wanted to add that I have been coached by Zander as well. Me: Season 1 finished 3500 #1 dia toss that have been having problems with my PvZ. Zander is easy to talk to, very cool guy I def recommend his coaching sessions. He allowed a friend of mine to hop on too and ask questions (who is now getting coaching by himself as well), and took his time. He set up matches vs Zerg opponents and gave great tips throughout several matches and I feel like i def have improved my PvZ.

He also took time out to review a replay I sent and gave good constructive comments on where I can improve.

Check him out!

Found this thread via the search feature and I was tentative to bump it, but because none of the posts are marked "Old Post" I figured it would be okay.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of the coaches who posted here are still interested in giving free coaching? I've tried contacting a few of you to no avail, so please reply back here if you could help me out.

Please state your case as to why I should coach you, what you expect from me and what you can offer in return. I will choose up to 2 students per week. I have one currently and he has been absolutely fantastic to work with. I find it very rewarding to see the improvement of students so I am willing to take on 5 more.

I think there needs to be a more centralized way to offer free coaching. I wonder if the TL admins have any inclination because it might dip in to their profit pool as to the TL pros that offer paid coaching.

Still there seems to be an untapped pool for players willing and looking for coaching.

Channel TangStarcraft on SC2 often has helpful people, obs games, and KOTHs going on. I do charge for coaching, but you won't have trouble finding general help from the community (or from myself) if you visit my channel when you're online. I'll also be uploading free build orders, strategies, and replays to my website www.tangstarcraft.com. Hope this helps guys.

So... you're not offering free coaching, but you are self plugging. Wonderful :O

Hello. I am offering free coaching services atleast 3-4 days a week every week.
Server: EU
Races: I have been in Masters League with all races
If you wish to become a "student" of my coaching then i want you to PM me your Character ID and code.
I do not appreciate cheesing or all in´s therefor it doesn´t make you a better player either macro or micro wise. I will not help you to get better at either cheesing or making stupid all in´s. What i offer you is to become better at each matchup, getting better at micro and macro and as well giving you pointers of what you did good or bad. If you cannot accept critiscm (accepting that you suck in some situations even thought you think your good" then i am not the right person for you. I am going to be honest to you.
Show respect by saying GG.
