So, I'm going to admit it, I screwed around way too much today. With calc/chem test coming up, and SAT prep tomorrow I have very little time. Gah. While I print some review questions for chem I'll write this blog.
1) Pens. I'm left handed, and a lot of pens suck for me. In fact, it's really hard for me to write well with cheap bics. Which is annoying, considering I lose pens bad. But a friend of mine recommended a zebra 301. Such a nice pen. It writes nice and smooth, nice fine line, and it doesn't catch on the paper. Best of all, it doesn't smudge on my hand. They are perfect.
So I had the one my friend gave me. Left it in my pocket, and when I was jogging it fell out. QQ
Bought two at the store for $5 total. I was holding one, and dropped the cover to the top down a stormdrain. SUCH BAD LUCK. And another day passes, and my acadec coach loses it after borrowing it. ...
I don't want to go through $8.50 of pens a week. Sooo
What pens do you lefties like that are cheaper?
How do you keep track of/not lose pens? I tend to lose a lot, and would like advice on keeping them.
2) Terran. After playing toss for a while I got really really sick of losing games because I missed forcefields, then building a deathballa nd a moving. Sort of unrewarding. Well, then started terran, and have gotten a combo of extraordinarily satisfying wins, and stupid ones. I am opening two rax vs zerg, into expand. At times I'm able to bunker their hatch. I bring one scv, do it, and it's practically an instawin. Vs toss I've been opening 1-1-1 with a marine/hellion push, into banshee. Seems fairly effective, but I have no buildorder for it.
Anyways, I might whimsically switch to terran, with the understanding I'd never go pro so it doesn't matter that awful much lol. This is somewhat connected to FragKrag's switch. I was already offracing a lot of terran, and was thinking about it, and when he switched I did about 3 ladder games. did another two today, and so far it's quite fun. So what are 3 basic (but generally macro oriented) builds that i can use? (1 per matchup)
Anyways, pens and terrans. Two distinctly different things.

Im left handed as well, and my school had a rule while taking quizzes or tests: no erasing! Well, my hand would smear my writing and it looked like I erased, and failed some tests until I showed them. Sorry, that was totally off topic
|
I'm also left handed, but I've never had a problem with pens smearing. Pencil will smear all over the page as well as the side of my hand and 3 fingers, but nothing with pen. I just use cheap click pens, just whatever freebies are given out. If the ink pools slightly, I'll smear it, but it's not common with normal pen use for me
Edit: Hahaha, I got a advertisement for pens after I posted. They are $0.07, 80% off, free shipping!
Edit2: That could be, are you dragging your hand over it abnormally fast? I prefer the feeling of having a sheet or two of extra paper, under the one I'm writing on. It really softens up the feel and looks/feels better, IMO

I'll try adjusting how I write and see if that helps.

~$2-3/pen is pretty standard for any 'quality' pen
you won't lose two every week: as you said yourself, "such bad luck"
what's the big deal?

Why would it be more difficult to use a pen as a lefty? Pens are left-right symmetrical

That really sucks to hear man. A friend of mine had this same problem going through our final exams in Year 12. They didn't make him prove it though as most of the teachers knew he had the issue and worded up the officials for the exam.
Good to see another Terran weeee! 2 Rax has been working great for me as well. I've also been playing mostly 1/1/2 for TvP, banshee marine opening

1. Ever heard of a pencil case?
2. Tht's sound good for u. Wish u look on playing T.!

I'm a lefty, and I swear by uniball pens, smooth, fine, good ink flow, no smudging. I don't necessarily lose them, but I never have them when I need them, so every now and then I do a pen round up where I get all the pens in the bottom of my bag, on my desk, in the back pocket of my pants, in my work clothes, in my coat pocket, etc. I've still got about 5 of the 8 I bought and it's been about 3 months.

Ah, and writing left to right that hand drags behind the pen? I get it

wtf kind of school did you go to?
eraser usage was condoned at my school thankfully

Switch to the swarm!! Every win is satisfying lol.

Writing with ink is really stupid to begin with, unless maybe if you're making notes and wants to be able to see what you're written more clearly.

But theres so few of them to be satisfied with...

Being left handed makes absolutely no difference when holding pens. The only issue is when your hand and the elbow of the guy to ur right have are fighting over territory.
I use like cheap 50 cent pens and I can't see why you'd need fancy pens unless you need to write a LOT for your exam e.g English based questions.

lol that's such a retarded rule O_O
I'm left-handed and I can use pretty much any pen without a problem... maybe canadian pens are better?

I lose pens all the time when I keep them in my pocket - best thing to do is to train yourself to put them in a pencil pouch that you carry around in your bookbag or whatever. And don't lend them out to people. Keep a stash of inexpensive bics to let people borrow. I don't really have a problem with pens unless they don't dry fast enough in time for my left hand to go across it, so just stay away from the really fluid pens (common sense I know)
As for terran, I use the 1-1-1 build as well, and I'm trying to work on a reactor barracks into early expand build, but my timing sucks so far gl hf!~

leave post its so you can see them as you exit your room like PEN ON DESK LOLORLOOSE or something to make sure you dont forget

It was only during tests ect. They didnt want eraser marks in case you tried cheating? Or because it looked bad? I cant remember, it was quite some time ago.

Err, when I write my pen is the topmost part of my left hand so since I write top to bottom theres no smudging, and I use standard biros which probably dont smudge that much anyway.

- it's a lot more legible - after you get your test back and you notice a problem, it gives you an opportunity for a regrade without being suspect to cheating

Carry a little pencil case (in your case a pen case haha) and ALWAYS put your pens in there. I have the same problem as you, i lose pens and pencils super easy.
Also if you can't remember to put them in case carry a big case in your bad, that way you go "oh gotta put this in my bag, plus my pens!"
Works everytime for me

And with pencil, I don't mean those yellow ones that you have to sharpen.
More like this: + Show Spoiler +
The only reason why you would use a pen with ink is if you want the text to be easier to read, but that's only a marginal difference, and unless it's the kind of notes that you would speed read, it doesn't make much difference.

All I can say is that you just got to learn to be more responsible. I went through the same problem but I changed myself in to making sure I never lost the pens or I'd punish myself mentally. With no punishment, it's harder to develop the responsibility if you just continually buy new pens.
|
I'd easily break any pencils like that. My pressure on the page is pretty high so those pencils would fail for me
|
The guy actually found the pen. So I only lost one and a cap
|
I used to have the smudging problem until I just started tilting the paper whenever I wrote so that it doesn't get on my hands.
|
This is probably a bad piece of advice for not losing a pen, but buy an expensive pen. I have a $100 fountain pen and because I spent that much money on it, I always make sure I know exactly where it is.
|
Try use a wire trick on your pens. Get something like a fish wire, and attach one end on your pen, and another end on your belt, pocket, or anything.
Works wonders, and you can slice up your enemies with said fish wire. (No you can't)

It was only during tests ect. They didnt want eraser marks in case you tried cheating? Or because it looked bad? I cant remember, it was quite some time ago. I think it is to educate you on not making mistakes and getting things right the first time?
At least that's what my teach'r told me, and it worked.
