So yeah. It's me with my annoying high pitched voice talking over starcraft
Indentation aside, I talked over some games earlier today. I have a bunch of em, and the sound balance is a little screwed up, so I'll need to fix that, and i recorded at half res in fraps because I didn't want files to be too large. I might do full res then resize later, because I want the quality to be at least 480p, but my first video is like 30 pixels shy of 480p so it is downscaled to 360, so I added bars.
Feel free to critique my commentary and recording setup. I'm using fraps and iskysoft media converter to bring it to youtube because of the GPU acceleration. If you think I could get much better quality with other codecs I am capable of using virtualdub.
Btw, it's not even really commentary, just me rambling.
Also how should I do non game screen captures? I'm using camstudio, but I'm not sure if that's adequate.
The quality is ~850kbps.
Here is the 360p video:
I'll upload the 480p video here when it finishes uploading.
You mean just regular screenshots while browsing net etc etc? I use Gadwin PrintScreen (v4.3 if it matters at all). I can't tell you if this one is the fastest (I think it's my PC needing format that causes any problems recently...) but has good amount options in settings and gets the job done perfectly for me. I can't comment on the commentary yet, I need to go to sleep...
Be less nervous and don't doubt yourself as much. Just do what most other commentators do and you'll be fine. Your voice also isn't really that high playing through my speakers, at least. You could also try to sound more excited (unless you've already seen it, in which case maybe fake it better ). In early game you could try to just ramble about technical or play-by-play stuff to fill the time. Since the game was so short and some parts felt awkward, it seemed as though it ended way too soon without much excitement.
Obviously it's much easier to criticize than to do it by myself, but those were my thoughts (also my thoughts are 90% negative so don't worry about that lol). I can tell you'd probably commentate a lot better in person or something, so I think it's just that you were nervous or something. GLHF!
The music and especially in game sounds are too loud in comparison to your voice. Next thing - it would be nice to see APM tab asap and maybe once they are about to make a Pylon, switch it to the production tab. And what Z3kk said - once you can see what they are about to do (here: cannon rush) you should focus more on what is going to be needed for that to work (like "omg he has to catch those probes and prevent them from making any pylons near his minerals or cannons will get the vision and be able to shoot"). I think the most important thing is to watch the replay prepared, with the knowledge of what do they need to do and when and how their opponent can (or has to) react. And show this knowledge as much as you can. I don't think your voice is too high, it's ok.
Are you going to upload the lan pics ? As an exchange here and here are pictures of European nerds omnomnom I think I hate that sweater lol ;d
