Hardcore! XD
Hahaha, actually I've owned BJDs since I was in university. I got my first one in my second year of uni. I've got four of them back home in England, and this lady is here with me in Seoul;

I love her face so much, she's really quite beautiful.
Your new Dollfie is really nice too. I especially liked the long white boots she had on. Did they come with the outfit or did you have them already?
Great job as always with the photos.

Thanks, I posted the photoshoot as a new blog if you wanna go big me up over there ^_~ They were bought yesterday too (55,000won ;_;). They're for SD so they also fit my Miyu dollfie. The Dollfie Dream's default outfit is Mai from King of Fighters - it's lovely, as is her default wig, but it's a bit too revealing for an outdoor shoot during this weather - she'd probably get very dirty.

Nothing much happening today other than home stuff. I was folding laundry and doing the ironing while the kids were playing on the bed. I introduced Miu to Zlata last night and they seemed to like each other very much. Miu just did not to want to let go of Zlata. Below are just some snapshots of the kids playing. Nothing great, just some family snaps. That's all.
Who, you may ask, is "Zlata"? Well, she's one of many CGI dolls I play with and my first "real" mesume. I'm a CGI artist if you're wondering, too. She's featured in many of my short stories and images here:
http://starlightpainter.deviantart.com
You have to be a member to view the adult content, but the family rated content is unrestricted. Free to join, though. One of my kids at school made me the Zlata figure last year and I even tried to get a real rag doll of her made at one point. No luck. But, I would love to have her as a PVC figure, though.
From left to right are: Zlata, Bong and Cookie.

I really like those CG figs : ) How long did each one of those take you?

Thank you.
The figures are store bought. I don't have the knowledge to make my own yet.
It's a long process, though! Each image takes anywhere from 8 to 12 hours to complete. The posing and set ups are a few hours and the rendering is around 3-4 hours depending on their complexity. The post work is another few hours. Here's an older workflow:
http://starlightpainter.deviantart.com/journal/21870544/
Here's a newer workflow:
http://starlightpainter.deviantart.com/journal/26453471/
And, I've changed to an even newer workflow, but I've not optimized it yet at it's based on my Mac system. Let's just say that the new render engine can take up to 48 hours rendering for optimal results!!!
The reason for so much variability is due to the different programs I'm using and the computers they have to be used on. I'm trying to move 100% away from Windows based computers which I still cannot do it yet. Too many compromises are present no matter what system I use for CGI.

I had a read of some of your Deviant art blogs since 3D modeling is also something that interests me.
Is there a reason you are trying to move away from Windows? Apple has extremely good marketing to make you think it's the "creative" platform but the reality is it has pretty terrible support software wise.
I've used both OS X and Windows. I would choose Windows any day for 3d work. The performance on identical machines is miles ahead in Windows.
Also in your blog you say you are stuck on and old version of 3DS that pretty much requires XP. Have you tried Blender? It has a steep learning curve but it is extremely powerful once you get the hang of all the keyboard shortcuts. Windows 7 is also much more stable and quicker than Vista ever tried to be.
Sorry for derailing the thread a little - to keep things semi on track I just picked up the Super Posable Saber Nendoroid. I just had to have her after NeverGG's photoshoot

@vek - I replied to all your questions in the other thread btw. Good choice for your nendy - Saber's got some lovely details on her costume and her accessories. I also love her angry option face because it looks hilarious on the other nendys.
@cgivisionary - Awww, your girls look so cute together. I want a wig like Cookie's hair!
*Is still gloating over getting her photoshoot spotlighted over at figure.fm* I need to come up with a lovely concept for the next shoot now. I think I'm going to wait until I can buy my girl some new clothing first. I was thinking of going boystyle this time, and using that short red wig to create a totally different look. It's fun to test her versatility.

Congrats on the spotlight ^_^
I'll check out your reply now then it's off to the post office

Cool!
I find OS X to be much more stable and much less resource intensive. It's such an efficient OS. Windows is way too buggy and inefficient for my liking. I can truly multitask on the Mac with a render running, that's not even doable on a Windows machine with a render running.
I don't buy into the hype. I base my decisions on my own personal experiences (normative, or not). To me, Mac's lag way behind Windows PC's for creative type software. Which is quite contrary to the hype. I've met many people who think Mac has the advantage here. But,Windows has the advantage here for sure. I know the computer market. It's been an interest of mine for years.
I don't have identical programs on both machines to tell which one is actually faster (both my machines have identical clock speeds and RAM). But, the Mac "looks/feels" slower because of the way they tweak their GUI. Now, I've tweaked Windows to the point of it being TOO FAST for the average user to even use!!! Menus and windows pop up too fast for most people to follow. I'm used to it now. I cannot do the same thing on my Mac, though, unfortunately. Don't know how.
I tried Vista (SUCKS-worst Win OS I've ever used) and Win7 (still looks/feels slooooow even though it is not). But, my old 3DS Max is only truly workable (and I know it barely runs in Vista-tried it) on WinXP. It's stable and works well. Plus, my Win machine is practically new. So, it should be around for quite a while. I've never tried Blender. But, I also need a platform that can use V-Ray as the render engine.
And, finally, the main reason for Mac is that it does everything I need in a computer except my 3D stuff. I wanted to travel light and, if it could do 3D, that would have been great. Great! But, as it is, I'm stuck with two machines.
Back to the figures: I almost picked up a Nendo Mio, Mugi and Yui along with the GSC 1/7 Saber (circa 2009) at Volks. Might do that Wednesday, tho!!!

Thank you. This is my fave image of the together. They are sooo CUTE! LOL
Congrats on the spotlight.

@VManOfMana: It's such a cute set though! You can pm them to me :D I need to get cracking on uploading my new photos plus other things this weekend. I've been so lazy this week.
I went to Dollmore (www.dollmore.com) yesterday. I got hopelessly lost (since I've not been there for two years, and I'd only been once.) It turns out they'd moved their office to somewhere vaguely close to their old office. I stumbled across it by pure chance whilst trying to get back to the station to go home. There was only 15 minutes left until they closed. Luckily, I'd written down all the items I needed so I just gave them to the helpful assistant who got them out of their stock room.
I also got 5% discount for shopping in person, plus a pin badge, tissue pack, postcard, sticker and something that looks like a dollfie-sized Indiana Jones style whip O.o IDEK.
Now I am poor. It's great to know that I can shop there in person, because even if they don't stock DD clothing there's plenty of lovely clothing for my luts girl. Also their wigs, stockings and shoes all fit my DD fine. It's *a lot* cheaper than Volks for clothing, wigs and shoes :D I'll do a direct shopping tutorial sometime soon with photos.
