I've never done a blog before but what cool place to start than team liquid. Its going to be starcraft focused because this is a starcraft site.
I have three current goals.
First I want to get my friend Attila (aka Sauron) back into starcraft thru starcraft 2. He invented the SauronZerg build and was a practice partner with Grrr (world champian of starcraft, beating boxer in Korea). He has an account but has only played a couple dozen games but he still was fairly good despite the practice. He could beat me with almost 1000 games under my belt.
My second goal is the same as most people on teamliquid: get into the masters leauge. I am 2477 point diamond and have won 14 of my last 18 games but like everyone else I have no idea what my MMA is.
My third goal is to make the top 200 random players in north america. As of last night I was the 343rd highest ranked random in north america and 699th in the world. I came up with this goal because I'll never be good enough to be pro but there isn't very many random players at the top so its a niche catigory I can do well at.

Thanks I agree. I think random players have the stigma of being bad at skilled long games but I disagree. Although a random can use some race specific rush to get and edge they also are immune to race specific cheese so I find its easier to pull off more standard long term builds as random.

Holy fuck that's awesome !
For those who don't know him, he's the pionner of the heavy macro zerg style back in yellow / boxer rivalry era. Hell he even popularized it way before starcraft itself ! :p

Being that im also an old schooler ill offer some games to you and sauron if you want(Ive been top 100 pretty much from early beta until a month ago when i stopped laddering). im a zerg player, pm me if interested and good luck to your goals

Hahaha, I know he's awesome. I met him because he was a friend of a coworker. He was at his prime before replays or even most people having internet so he never knew about his reputation until long after he stopped playing starcraft. He found out when he used his name in Warcraft 3 and a bunch of people told him he stole the starcraft player's name and he was like, thats my name!

You might have guessed but he's zerg too. I'm only a top 2500 diamond and I'm guessing Attila skill level is about mid diamond so we're no match for you. I think you could take us both on at once The couple times I got him playing he liked to FFA. Personally I'd like to thank you for the offer, I'd like to take you up on it.
Are you going to ladder again now that the master league is out?

Thanks Darklordjac. I've played a bunch more 1v1s today and won about 60% of them. I'm up to 2597 points which puts me at 300th top random in north america and 613th best in the world. I have no idea if I'm close to masters league. One good sign is most people in my division that are above me have been promoted. I was around 38th best in my division (it was the 9th hardest division in north america) before masters and now with my added points and people being promoted I'm up to #5 and everyone around me has played significantly more games than I.
No progress on getting Attila to play. I wrote him an email about my goals and he told me he wishes he could find time to play and it makes him feel like an old man :s
