OK, so another semester ended in a misery for me. I had only 4 classes and i won't even be able to pass all of them. And, the ones I pass will probably be C- and B. My gpa is barely over 2.0 and my family goes freakin insane when it's about my classes and grades.
Btw, 3rd year at the university, kinda repeating the second year (i passed the 2nd year according to my gpa but I failed every single one of my prerequisite classes so it sucks).
About me: I'm someone who hates to be interfered so much. I'm kinda slumping at school and this causes my family to interfere in my life so much. And this causes me go down even more.
My family: Well, they are being family-ish. "Study, study study, when is your gpa going to be over 3.0, study, study, study, this this this person finished school with this gpa and earns this much at this company, you should be like them as well, study, study, study" is what I've heard from them since the 1st day of freshman class.
My Goal: Shut them up for good. ROFL. This means i should get a good job, good payroll, declare my independency.
Problems: 1- They never shut up. ROFL. I'm now at pc lab of my school and I bet when I go home, they will start again. 2- My gpa is in the toilet. For them to shut up talk a little bit more quietly so that i can hear less, I first need to get that higher.
So: 1- I'm thinking of blogging my next term. 2- I'll study better (YAY), play less SC2 (NOO), have a better life. 3- I'll blog about it because it's probably the only thing that can encourage me on studying and making studying bearable.
tl;dr: I'm not the best student, family constantly talks aobut that, this annoys me further, i stop studying as I get annoyed, they never stop talking, i study even less, infinite loop secured, thinking about breaking this stupid infinite loop, so i decided to blog my next term as i think it's blogworthy and can make me study, well, that's it. Kinda.

Do you feel that you've been working hard? If you have, I guess you just aren't very good at studies. But at least you did put in effort and THAT should shut them up. My parents are like that too and I'm working hard to prove to them I can study alone without the nagging.
Wish you all the best in your studies.

I see this thread a lot. It goes like this:
1. "I'm failing at ____." Statement of justication. 2. "My family is worried about me failing at ____. They're so annoying!" 3. Rather than trying hard and succeeding at ____, the poster just complains about their family's concern.
Of course your family is worried about you failing an entire year. It's a big deal. They don't want to fail out of university and end working some menial job. You show no signs of working hard to avoid this future. What more can they do than constantly remind you that school is important? Why have you not addressed this either with them, by telling them to stop, or yourself, by improving your grades?

well chill covered one part i'll cover the other: your goals you are going to study better, you write. how? how much do you currently study, how much are you planning on studying? how will you quantify success here? what study methods are you going to use? you are going to play less sc2. how much do you play now? how much is your limit for playing from now on? again, how will you quantify success here? you are going to blog about it. again... see above.
vague goals piss me off (and should piss you off too, they're useless)

Study harder! Not many people get to go to the university.
|
One point of motivation; the fact that university isn't free. Every time you fail the class, and don't get credit, its more money wasted.
|
Studying is unbearable? You should not have gone to an university...

Make an Excel Graph of your grades! Watch as it rise higher and feel proud!

This is an excellent start. I like your priorities.

You've got a choice between going through the pain barrier now and getting a well-paid menial job, or not going through it and getting a poorly-paid menial job.
P.S. I chose the latter, and I don't regret it yet, but I haven't moved out

You are the only person who is going to get hurt from bad grades in the long run. My advice? Don't worry so much what the parents say just study hard and get the best grades you can for yourself.

Yeah, don't blame your family for your own shortcomings. Either ignore them and do well, or ignore them and do badly.
Saying that it's somehow not your fault that you stop studying is absolutely absurd. You're in control of your own life, so don't pretend someone else is somehow causing you to fail.

I'm not even a part of this situation but your little spree of goal advice makes me cringe, bro. I HATE goals, I HATE dictating my life down to hours and minutes of alotted time. Not hating on you at all, i just hate having goals makes me feel like my life isn't worth living.

The truth is you are probably not studying due to lazyness/lack of motivation/etc, and you're using your 'family being annoying' as an excuse to not study. The cycle really is just you, and your family is just an external source of blame. This is from personal experience, so I'm not trying to bandwagon criticize you.
Just that fact that you're blogging about it is just another method of procrastination. You will never be able to break this 'cycle' until you fix your mindset and really find true motivation within yourself to start studying. Starting a blog as motivation to study, so that your parents can stop annoying you, so you can really start studying is nonsense.
Fix your mentality and realize that your family is looking out for your best interest. You may not agree with what I'm saying right now, but looking back at this post years from now, I think you will feel a little foolish.
As for achieving your goals, even if you blog your way to a 3.0 gpa, and somehow get a good job, you're going to have the same issues in the workplace if you continue with this mindset. Your goal should be to fix your study habits, work ethic, etc, and everything else will fall into place.

having goals makes you feel like your life isn't worth living? that's odd, usually it's the other way around to each his own i guess

1) Having a job is the absolute worst way to make money. 2) College has nothing to do with your potential to earn money. 3) Don't expect good help posting about economic/scholarly issues on a Starcraft forum.

Ok I don't know which degree are you studying and how the gpa thing works like and other relevant data but as a fellow who also loves to be independent and hates being interfered let me tell you the only real way to deal with it is being actually good. That means, if you're failing, study and work harder to pass any more exams that are thrown to you, in some sort of a race against the system. Now it is very easy to say that but way harder to accomplish, but, you know, people won't share your thoughts and feelings so the only real way to make them stop telling you what you do have to do is throught results, which in your case is passing all the exams. That's your only option if you want to stop them bashing at you. Even if it is difficult for you just try to work hard. Hard working makes wonders.
