[R]DJ Programs?

Hello! I just recently bought a APC 40

Well, a little about myself before I go on. I play the drums and the bass and was really getting into making some beats and synths with my APC40, but I wonder if there is any other programs out their that are specifically made for DJ's and beat making? I looked around the search in TL for this, but really didn't come up with anything and would be able to recommend some programs...

I tried google, but I'm scared of clicking most of those links since they look a little funky. Which is why I just decided to make a blog instead and see if anybody knows anything.

If any of you have any experience with Akai brands or APC's would be great help, would like to hear some of your stuff!

the apc40 is a really good unit
it is designed specifically for ableton live and I would highly suggest using it with that program.

First of all Ableton is fucking kick ass. It works well as a DJ tool, a producing tool, and as an assistant to a musician.

Here's the thing... Ableton is not for the feint of heart. Even if you only plan to DJ the extent of the journey you're about to embark on is extreme. I don't have much experience with the APC40 but I know a lot about units designed for ableton which work very similarly. I'll PM you.

Traktor also kicks ass, but in a very different way.

I have an APC 40 myself! I mapped it so I can use it on Traktor..

question though...are you wanting to DJ or to actually produce music?

Ableton is definitely your best bet. Cubase you can probably configure to work as well.

If you're less about making beats and more about DJing I suggest Traktor.

Yea, I was just wondering if there was any other programs that I am able to use with it... I want to just try both, beats and DJing, so I can get both worlds.

If you want both I would use ableton obviously because it CAN do both and the APC40 is already pre-mapped so it's a hell of a lot less work.
