In belated celebration for my 1000th post on TL.net, I would like to explain my one and only ban to date.
I'm proud and not afraid to say, I've got a pretty good posting history in TL. I've never engaged in flame wars, never trolled anyone, never aggravated or insulted mods, spell accurately, and i frequently edit my posts to make sure they are of top quality. I'm a constructive netizen of the TL community, and I'm so proud of that, I would write that on my resume just in case my employers lurk or post here.
That said, I did make One Silly Mistake which landed me a light sentence of a 2 Day Temp ban.
On occasion, I have been curious to see what it is like to be temp banned. No, I was not drunk. Yes, it was a deliberate decision. But what, you ask, was the rational behind posting

Well, the logic was extrapolated from: 1) This was during the time when Terran imba threads were polluting the sc2 strategy forum 2) Many posters were attributing the end of Earth to wanton human consumption 3) So, logically, Terrans really ARE the most imba race on earth. 4) When we are doomed, it will be like a new patch came and reset the ladders. Patching and restoring balance to the world.
Sadly, my evidently very sophisticated piece of humor sailed clear over everyone's head, and landed me a "WHAT THE FUCK MAN" from the mods and a 2 day temp ban.
I got temp-banned for when last romantic posted a really long story about this girl he was interested in. The intoxicated bum thought it was good to post "Inb4ninjas"

Damn.. I've been here since 2004 and am nowhere near 1k posts. Guess I have little to say. No idea why i've chosen this thread to be stupid, juvenile and part of the sea of mindlessness, but "Congrats on your 1K posting and your ban!" +1 post count.
My one ban was from calling out arb's crappy blog as crap with a bunch of other people. ETT banned us all then must have realized the thread was trash and closed it.
I got banned for calling someone stupid. Why did I call them stupid you ask? They were posting about how terrible IdrA is as zerg (during GSL2 I think).
Gotta "politely disagree" with people who shit on your favorite players i guess.
I hit my 1000th yesterday as well! And am very much like you except I was never banned.. I was however warned for sharing my "opinion" that Fifa is better then Pro Evolution Soccer.
I believe I said something along the lines like.. "Fifa shit's on PES" or something in the debate thread =/
Granted this was a while ago but made a pact to just not say dumb stuff from then on.

I think your ban was totally unjust. Seriously, I think you deserve to be flamed when you post shit like that. Maybe the mod was didn`t like Idra or something : / Besides, calling him stupid is pretty polite in my opinion, he could get called far worse .

As for my own history, I got my 1,000th post fairly recently as well (and my Corsair icon today! Woo!), and I've managed to make it this far with only a single warning, for "posting without dignity". I edited the message, but in essence, it was a response to a thread about naming a kitten, where I said something like:
... but even worse than that. Thinking about it now, it's a wonder that post ever made it past the preview box, but somehow it did. Naturally, Manifesto7 was sure to remind me about the virtues of posting sensibly via the almighty red text + PM, and sent me on my way. I have no doubts that my warning was 100% justified, and it's provided me incentive to avoid posting like a 5 year old on a sugar rush. Thanks, Mani.

besides trolling lots of people get warned and banned when their humor goes unnoticed happened to me. Thread.title was " People do not read enough" so i posed, " can i get cliffs i didnt feel like reading it." Boom then i got warned..

I guess if a post does not talk for at least a paragraph it is considered worthless? Sometimes less is more. A lot of posts here are just fluff and can be condensed into a single sentence to get the main point across.
All I wanted was to make a thread about Starcraft 2 media. The general youtube thread is not what I was looking for. That is just random videos. It got closed before I could add any more content because sometimes I wish there was a thread where you can find all the neat pictures and videos that people make about Starcraft and its players. Is that too much to ask? Can we not have that? Does everyone have to have a stick shoved up their ass?

With enough content - enough pics, videos and maybe some descriptions about videos for start - I think you should be able to make a blog. You had bad luck of posting a vid from a guy who stirred a lot of shit lately. And Hot_Bid wrote he was close to getting his stream featured right before he made his call for invasion so imagine the frustration...
