I like the TL rules. Most forum poster-people drive me nuts because they can't put their hands on a keyboard without constantly referring to stupid memes that no one liked in the first place. If that makes me elitist, then I personally gladly would accept that title.

Since 2004 (and we exist a lot longer than that) we have banned over 14000 users. That's enough to form a community of their own so I guess that's what you run into when you leave this godly place. Wouldn't be too concerned about it. In the end TL is just a mirror of what we feel how a site should be and this is not going to change for anything.

Everyone here loves TL because anyone who doesn't is terminated, everyone speaking against the public opinion gets terminated, "for trolling". Free discussion inspires creativity but if there is a higher force deciding for us who should be posting and about what, it dies. The day that I was worried of getting banned for posting my own sincere opinion was the day I ceased to respect of what tl had become.

mostly the people that gets banned usually attacks the other poster personally, there's a lot of posters there that argue with each others opinion and it's damn entertaining. As far as I can tell not everyone gets banned because of his out of this world opinion but more on attacking someone else or a programer

I remember in a few patch threads multiple people got warned simply because they had understood the patch notes wrong.

Yes reading ability is a requirement on TL we won't deny that we appreciate it when people bother taking the time to read what they respond to.

And thats the main reason i dont post as much, but man i <3 tl

TL is the most awesome community i have ever seen. I became member long time after i started visiting regularly. Some people might seem elitist, but it is only because they have spent so much time and dedication, so they have the right to it. Only one time i was banned and i didn't feel it was justified, but i got over it. Strict moding is neccessary with the load of newcomers with SC2. With that said i wish TL many succesfull years to come.

The strict modding is really what keeps the community clean. I'd like to dedicate a big Thanks to all the admins, mods, banlings, programmers, coders and all that it's called. <3 u all

TL is way too lenient. There's a lot of crap on this board that really should be banned or closed or at least given a new forum.
TL is fairly accepting of idiocy. Take the 20 contentless threads about people who've decided they want to be a progamer even though they aren't even highly ranked.
Even though I'm not a member of SA, they have the best quality threads on the internet, and it's due to the fact that you aren't just banned for being rude, but you're banned for screwing up threads and posting dumb, annoying shit too.

I'd love to see TL mirror itself. One for normal TL, one for banned TL. Banned users don't get told they are banned, they are just sent to Banned TL, where everything behaves normally. Only Posts and PMs from Banned TL never appear on Real TL. Sort of a Twilight Zone thing I guess.
Anyway, I <3 TL. Sooooo much better than most communities.

That is absolutely not true and a gross mis-characterization of what actually goes on here. People being banned for their opinion is a rarity. People get banned for how they present their opinions.
I don't know where people get the idea that all opinions are created equal, or that TL should have to stomach stupidity to satisfy some uninformed notion of freedom, but that's not the case at all.

I completely agree, 4chan is the last bastion of free speech on this planet. We need to break free of our controlling over-masters, and migrate to 4chan. Then the deep, creative, intellectual discussions shall commence!

Please link to people getting warned for misunderstanding.
Until then, I feel you are actually misunderstanding the situations.

I don't know how or if the noble BW chivalry carried over to the SC2 crowd, but I'm glad people at TL talk about manner as a serious discussion topic. In every other game, bad manner is just a fact of life and you're all sorts of a terrible newb if you'd like to contest it.
But yeah, Team Liquid is really something special in the world of gaming.
Starcraft is fine art, Gentlmen play it.
Not the crowd.

It's really sad what some schools ban nowadays. Back in my day we had Napster in the college dorms!
