I've decided to archive some old stuff.

I could not find the scores anywhere . I must say Canada team looks very impressive. The two teams have 3 really good players each USA: Maynard, Soso and Jolly. Canada: Grrrr, Crexis and BOO! but Canada also have Kain, Stratus, Expo and Thor who are all better than rest of USA perhaps with the exception of D23-Gad and MAYBE +Lokus+. Shockwave and 88fingers are about the same and 88fingers is Canadas worst. Who is Ghandi anyway?

Good stuff, I'm not really aware of anything that happened in Broodwar before about 2003-4 so it's always nice to read about this sort of thing.

But why did you post this under Blogs?

Also, you seem quite knowledgeable of the scene from back then. It would be nice if you could add more stuff in a story like way and not just line-ups and results.
But this is really awesome as well -.-

Nice post, good look at the history of the game.

good stuff, I went to X'D's website and read through Giyom's strategy guides Fun to read how the game was played back then

It's easier to find it here. I cant view my old posts anymore and by posting historic data like this in my blog makes it easier to find. But you'll also be able to find this post via the search function.

Basically by using waybackmachine and posting old site links there. Unfortunatly alot of stuff is gone, but with enough search you can put pieces together. Remember there are links to other sites in these old sites. Also google has been helpful, especially when I found the PGL results.
|
So many old school names that I had forgotten! It's funny how many of them disappeared but also resurfaced for the release of WC3.

The most important now is to store the results and organize them. I've provided links to my sources and you'll be able to find battlereports of many of the matches there. I may add other stuff later, but since this hasnt been organized and stored anywhere on TL as of now the data will be prioritized. For matchreports on the battle.net tournaments go here:
http://web.archive.org/web/19991127225327/battle.net/ladder.shtml
You'll find them under match-summaries. Unfortuanatly some of the links are broken.
For PGL matchreports go here: http://web.archive.org/web/19990829010919/www.pgl.com/scoreboard/s4_sc_boxscore.asp?match_id=128
Replace the number last in the link - "128" with other numbers (in decending order is my best advice) to find other games, I must warn you though that some of the links will be broken.
For Kali vs B.net matchreports go here:
http://web.archive.org/web/19990417225511/www.gamers.com/starcraft/bk-reports.asp
Same thing here, some of the links will work, others wont. Try your luck.
As for the Canada vs USA battlereports, unfortunatly that site does not work with waybackmachine. FuzzyTheBear wrote some incredible reports on www.starcraft.gamegurus.net/fuzzy but they cannot be found. Personally I remember a few of the matches and I've given a short summary of the Grrrrr vs Maynard match before.

Holy fuck. Thanks.
I got into the scene shortly after I started playing again, which was vastly late. I have watched a lot of old VODs to get some handle on what has happened in how a person plays BW since its inception, but a great deal of this is wholly new and exciting. Thank you for posting it.
I think it would be good for someone with the capabilities to move this to BW. In blogs it might be lost, whereas in BW it will feed TLs new acquisitions. I know a lot of people have gotten into BW since the SC2's blossoming. It would do well to make this extraordinarily available to those who would like to take the history of BW in.

HOLY crap! Awesome post man. I posted about knowing all these old players in another post but nobody seems to remember, or a few. Those were the days!!!! I really miss all these players and want to know every detail about where they are now. I know Tiller plays poker.. and Grr... but who here remembers soso? That guy was the greatest because of GX gamers. He was the first to really blog about the game and let us fans in on the big time games he was playing and new strategies. I know he turned down pro gaming to lead a real job because he figured pro gaming at the time wouldnt pay. I really want to find out more about him specifically. Gad at the time was the best after soso was on top for a while.
