Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this would be awesome, but wouldn't a starcraft anime be pretty great?
I'm not talking about one based on the game lore or anything, I'm talking like based on the game as an eSport. Think Prince of Tennis, Hajime no Ippou, or even Yu-Gi-Oh. It would be based on the players and how they interact, as well as the strategies they come up with.
There'd be all these dramatic scenes where the korean protagonist is tapping at the keyboard with inhuman APM, they'd shout out battle cries before executing their rush tactics, etc.
And they could come up with impossible scenarios that would probably never happen in the real game but with superhuman APM are technically possible. The spectators would shout things dramatically. "The drop! It's so well timed!" and when someone loses, they'd shout out things like "How can this be?! My 4gate is unstoppable!"
I don't know, I think it'd be amazing and I'd watch the shit out of it.

this would be so sick, especially with some animation of the in-game battles.

yes. quite the read.

I love how 90% of the manga is people sitting at a computer. Not so easy to draw/write a compelling story. We need someone who can convey high APM really well in this style. I don't see why it can't be done though, isn't Bakuman a manga about drawing manga? SC is way more exciting than that.

I'd watch it, StarCraft in Prince of Tennis style would be so awesome :D
|
Yeah and then big buff dudes with pistols would just yield to the scrawny teenager who just beat them at a video game.
SO AWESOME

I have trust in the Japs to make any anime awesome, I would definately watch it!

I've read the "Starcraft Frontline" manga, (or imitation manga, w/e), and it was actually really good. I've love to watch an animated version, if only to watch huge space battles, which would be awesome.

ZEALOT BOMB
HE UNSIEGED THE TANKS AND KILLED ALL MINES WITH HIS VULTURES OMGGGG
there'd be so many things you could do with inhuman APM :D plus you could make up glitches, like one guy specialize in being able to make his marines fire twice as fast >_>

Man I was talking to my sister about this some time ago, and I think it'd be a perfect dramatization. They'd have to exaggerate the personalities of the players as well as give us a lovable hero for each 'season'; maybe each following the reign of the 4 bonjwas and then Bisu/Stork/Flash/JD. Too bad they'd have to make Tossgirl the likeable token girl... but then again maybe that can be January in the early seasons and Tossgirl can be the ojou-trope that mellows out a bit.

Thank you for this link. I had not known the existence of that thread. On more relevant matters, any games/sports (including E-SPORTS) dramatized by the anime generally leads to epic win xD. Would definitely love it, finishing this before reality checks in though.

I thought Ghost Academy and it were both completely awful, although Frontline was much better than Academy.
But yeah, of a course a show based on progamer drama would be amazing. Animated or live action. I believe someone made a trailer for a fake live action which was pretty amazing.
Is anyone hardcore enough to download all those image files and put them into a zip for people to download? :O I wanna read it, but not all in one sitting on a single page lol. Nevermind, I just did. Will bump original thread with it in a minute.

Fuck yeah. The anime plotline is already there. Gods rising in the game. One God goes to the darkside and becomes the new evil ruler guy (anime cliche, but hey Savior you did it T_T). And old gamers becoming mentors (ACE). So sick. They can also have an alternate universe or something called Foreign Land. Players will be like "Making carriers is a good skill toi have" and shit. Combat-Ex being all awesome and creating the greatest rivalry ever with Chill. Fund this shit Japan!

An anime about the Bonjwas would be SICK!!

I think it would work great if done properly. One of my favourite animes of all time is Hikaru no Go and I had no interest in Go at all at that point. Anything can be interesting with good execution, but I agree SC/eSports show would be awesome.
The show can get big and they can make a game out of it, and the universe will explode.

hmm what would be better?
an anime documenting the actual story of the progamers? (dramatized of course)
or an anime that closely follows the actual history, but adds certain false details in?: eg Savior closes deals with the mafia, Bisu is actually a woman who pretends to be a man (and appears in certain non-PG rated films when he's not practicing cough cough) etc

At first I thought this wouldn't work out, but there have been some pretty successful action animes... the funny things is the StarCraft comics released already get put into the same section as manga in many bookstores, but I don't think the art style is similar at all.

I would watch it... Exactly what I was thinking! The in-game specifics would be exaggerated but the overall story of flash is so anime-like it's unreal.
While being a practice partner: "I lost to bisu 0-6 on Longinus. I was so shocked. I watched the replay and saw him manage his gateways flawlessly. I though to myself: so there are progamers who are like this..."
On convincing his mom about going pro: "I promise I'll win a starleague in a year's time or else I'll quit..." -- then he goes on to get a pro license in a month and win bacchus '08 within a year
The first time JD heard of Flash: "On paper, Backho had a very easy group and we all predicted that he would qualify for the OSL. We were shocked when he was eliminated. When I asked him about it, he just shrugged, shook his head, and said: "I won the first game and got into a good position at the start of the 2nd and 3rd games. But my opponent just kept pushing and pushing until I lost.""
* quotes are paraphrased lol
