So I took the bus up Sunday morning, and after church + meeting up with a friend, I waited in Times Square for Carefree Me, a friend from my school who would be joining me on my visit. While I was waiting I texted MrHoon random things and then called him and talked to him. Carefree Me soon arrived and we figured out which subway we needed to take and went on our way. After a bit, we arrived at our stop. Me being directionally challenged couldn't figure out which direction we needed to go, but thanks to Carefree's iPhone we were saved and we arrived. I called the phone number and they waved hi from the 2nd floor.
They've already started playing mafia by the time we arrived, with TheMango moderating. R1CH, Pokebunny, and orb was sitting on the couch, micronesia and Carnivorous Sheep on the other side, Intrigue, Slog, and Hot_Bid by the window. Carefree and I signed the Guestbook and we joined in the fun.
Intrigue was the doctor the first few times, and he was frigging imba or something, since the mafia didn't get a first night kill about 3 games in a row (for some reason micronesia and hot_bid were very popular first night kill targets). Hot_Bid then argued and established a "if mafia doesnt get a kill on the first night then no voting off on the first night" which was a pretty sound strategy. With 10 people we had 3 mafia one doctor (used to be two but we nerfed the doctor later) and one cop and rest civilians, but mafia rarely won a game to make it matter.
One game Pokebunny was the cop and he got lucky and correctly guessed two mafia the first two rounds. He came out after and told us who the two mafia were. It was going to be an easy game until CSheep also decided to claim he was the cop. What.
Eventually we decided the safest vote would be to go after one of the people Pokebunny said was the Mafia, and took the night. Luckily Pokebunny was targeted by the mafia next, who the doctor also apparently saved. Doctor said he targetted Pokebunny so then we knew. We all raged at CSheep pretty hard after that though.
WaxAngel eventually came with a box of Popeyes. He seemed to like Fried Chicken. He ate his meal, played a few games where he barely talked and then passed out for the next 11 hours or so (woke up for the PL games). He then left in the morning and told me he was getting more popeyes before leaving. What.
A few more games, I moderated a few games, and orb also moderated a few games so Mango could play. Mango is frigging imba, I swear. There was this one game where he correctly guessed who the mafia was within 2 rounds (every game Mango played mafia would try and kill him pretty damn quickly). It was also a game where the mafia took out the cop the first night so it was like what. I thought Mango was the mafia that game cause the mafia didn't target him that game so I thought that was odd. But yeah towns people easily won that game lol.
Mafia didn't win many games, there was a game where mafia outright won cause cop died and by the time I started thinking about what the town should do it was over (cause i only think late game when probabilities are easier to calculate). There was a few games where it came down to 2 civilian one mafia and 50/50 chances. One game involved Micronesia and he was pretty close (he also got like mafia 6 games in a row by that time). the other game involved me as the mafia vs mango and r1ch civilian and i lost that because i claimed doctor at the end and mango was the doctor (DID NOT EXPECT mango to be the doctor cause i thought CSheep was the doctor and he was right next to Mango so i heard it wrong).
Slog was also kinda funny cause he was completely random and he was not trustworthy at all. CSheep was not trusted after the first incident involving him (Pokebunny to micronesia: "Why are you looking for logic in his statements? He's CSheep!" I also expected CSheep to be a bit larger and a bit more awkward but he ended up being a tiny asian boy but yeah.
mnm and her friends came in, and we had one big game (that took a few tries to get going cause the cards were mixed up lol). After that Pokebunny Micronesia and orb left, and we had a few more games and mnm and her friends left.
Smix came a bit later (and signed like the most prominent spot on the guestbook with a heart), and Slog left after. There was a few team SC2 games (random 4 v 4s where I just massed Zerglings if I was zerg and massed carriers if I was protoss and I never got to play Terran). Conversations here and there and Dinner.
After a few games and conversations Smix and CSheep left (CSheep came over and he wasn't done with finals and he actually had finals the next day...), and luckily Hot_Bid said I could stay over so I stayed over. r1ch went to sleep soon too and then later on Carefree and I played some BW games randomly. I played a game against Megalisk and then Carefree played PvZ against Megalisk. Then Hot_Bid played a few games and intrigue played (they were both on my account, and iccup.noone (i think?) was playing them and I think he thought he was playing me though lol). Watching intrigue play was quite amazing since I didn't know how apm that fast would look like. It was also kinda sad/sorrowful and filled with desperation as intrigue tried to defend against Muta harass... but yeah. they both mentioned how hard brood war was. Mango went to sleep soon after.
Speaking of running BW, r1ch's computer was the most intimidating computer I have ever used... I think there was like 3 ssh terminals going and like 20 tabs on chrome/firefox and like 30 tasks on the task bar... I wanted to play BW on it but I got scared of playing BW on it cause I knew win7 randomly crashes with BW and I didn't want to risk it lol.
Hot_Bid went to sleep and intrigue played BW until proleague started and went to sleep soon after Proleague started (I think after the first game). Wax awoke by then though although i went to sleep pretty soon after. I woke up, talked with Wax for a bit, and then Hot_Bid and r1ch woke up and started working on TL stuff. They were pretty busy and hard at work, and so Carefree and I left soon after and grabbed lunch at a place Mango recommended us and went home. But yeah it was a pretty fun day and Carefree was like "yeah the trip to NYC was worth it just for the visit to TLHQ".
It was pretty fun! I should have brought Milkis to the TLHQ though, that is like my only real regret
