Hello, I've been a member of TL since 08. From 2008 to 2010 I've had a lot of banned accounts, probably the most in TL history. My most famous one was Clasic, but thats not the point of this blog.
After getting banned so much and never doing nothing good for the community it finally clicked in my mind, * stop posting, you annoying asshole *
Over 10 perma-banned accounts, and just yesterday I realized that I just need to lurk more and post less. Even on this account over 75% of my posts are shitty, and after realizing that yesterday I just force myself to stop.
I've been clicking quote all the time since yesterday, and write something along the lines of "just shut the fuck up asshole" and I forced myself not to click post. This is pretty much the best thing you can do if....
...You're not really that smart... See, I'm 15 and I will openly admit I'm not that smart, and suck at getting my message through in a debate. I mainly always want to get in arguments with conservatives, but I realized I can't, and I will always lose. So I wait for someone that is smart, that knows how to debate, to rape ass.
But basically what I'm trying to get through to newer posters is to just stop posting, stop caring about post count, and only post when it would actually contribute to a discussion. Take it from someone who's been banned 10/15/20+ times, you wont have to make so many e-mails signing back up (10minutemail doesn't work anymore.) Its way better to be remembered for the little amount of posts you have that are filled with quality info or something that will contribute to the community than having 5k+++ posts and all of them being lol,+1,you're a douche, etc

Something I mentioned before on the Ban list thread:
I dont see why rate of posting and quality have anything to do with each other!! If you spend more time on TL/day you will have a proportionately higher no. of posts too...
I think its quite patronising of someone to see the posting-rate and just assume that someone is a low quality poster. It may well be a quality poster who posts more, in which case I wud prefer him to be applauded rather than castigated!!
Edit: I'm not saying anything personalised here just making a general statement.

I used to be the same way (although not getting banned, just humiliated), and my problem was I would post something stupid without thinking it through, or just mouth off about something I know nothing about and get called on it. A lot of the posts I've made on this forum I later went back and edited to be blank out of embarrassment. Eventually I came to accept the fact that I was a shitposter, and now I only come out of my shell to make posts like this.

Well I supposed that's sensible logic concerning your case, although I still believe you should really make an attempt to learn to make quality posts.

Am I the only one who finds this blog really ironic? "Let me write a post about how I shouldn't post". Seems almost counter-intuitive....
I digress. I agree with some points of what you're saying. I don't think you should post for the sake of upping your post count to just say "lol tahts funny". But if you're a shitty poster, I don't think you should just stop posting either. I mean, you shouldn't continue to post wildly, but rather slow down a bit, and try to improve your posting. Post sometimes, but make sure it counts haha. :p

But posts in the blogs section don't count towards your post count! It's not an actual post, in some sense at least.

I was actually reading the auto ban list for the first time this year, and it's amazing how many people aren't as bright as OP and have the urge to post really useless things.

This is probably one of the better tips for any online forum :D
I sometimes read some bad thread or when someone makes a thread which was made like a million times I want to flame the person for not searching lolol. I know it can sometimes happens when u search and you won't find it but if it's been made tens of times if not hundred then I'm really sighing for them not searching better.
Then I make this huge long reply and I just have to enter and while I'm re-reading it I'm thinking it's too harsh and I delete it. Few min later it get's closed anyways :D
