LiquidJinro v oGsMC/IrOn
Game 1
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 1: Steppes of War
MC chronoboosts out a zealot that runs up Jinro's ramp and prevents a bunker from completing. Another chronoboosted zealot joins it, and together they manage to take out four marines and many scvs that try to finish the bunker. When the bunker finally completes, a stalker joins the army and the protoss units just walk past it into Jinro's mineral line. Once a hellion from a proxied factory dies to a stalker in MC's base, Jinro leaves the game.

MC won this game on micro, multitasking, and knowing Jinro's play style.

MC 1-0

Game 2
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 2: Xel'Naga Caverns
Jinro gets two barracks(TR) and quick concussive shells, after which he expands. MC masses sentries off of three gateways and expands. Jinro adds on two more barracks(TR) and researches stimpacks. After making a few rounds of stalkers, MC attacks at 9' into the two bunkers at Jinro's natural. The sentries isolate both of the bunkers and allow the stalkers to engage single units at a time. It works very well and MC takes out the natural without losing many units. MC retreats and adds on three more gateways. Jinro counterattacks, but can't overcome MC's much bigger army.

MC is looking very, very strong. Even though Jinro isn't making any mistakes, MC's openings are overpowering Jinro with apparent ease.

MC 2-0

Game 3
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 3: Shakuras Plateau, cross positions
Jinro expands after one techlabbed barracks. MC quickly techs up to stargate, which does not get seen by a scouting reaper. Jinro adds on two more barracks. MC attacks at his second void ray. The void rays lure the marines into Jinro's main as MC's gateway army attacks the natural The bunkers fall; stalkers take out a missile turret; and MC uses forcefields to pick apart the rest of Jinro's army.

Another crisply executed build from MC. Jinro needs to figure out away to stay alive against MC's early attacks. Bunkers are not the answer, since MC seems to be a master at breaking them. Maybe early aggression on Jinro's part or strong, unit-heavy, one-base style to establish presence on the map before expanding could be the answer.

MC 3-0

Game 4
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 4: Jungle Basin
Jinro quickly techs up to thors after showing two barracks and proxying a factory. MC gets an early twilight council followed by a dark shrine. Both players get their respective rushes into their opponent's base. Jinro's forces take out the production facilities of MC while MC's DTs start wreaking Jinro's base. All the probes on the map run to the opposite base. Jinro builds an engineering bay in MC's base to protect him from the dark templar. MC expands to Jinro's back door. Jinro lifts his command center and starts floating it across the map. But it gets picked off by MC's stalkers! Jinro doesn't have enough money to expand. He also has no way to get detection outside of MC's main. He's trapped, and there isn't much to do aside from gg.

If Jinro could have gotten his command center safely across the map it would have been an amazing game. As it stands, though, MC thoroughly outplayed his opponent in every set. This unfortunately puts an end to Jinro's amazing run in the GSL.

MC wins 4-0

These games proved something I was thinking for a very long time: gateway units do very well vs barracks units.

thanks for the writeup

I think MC basically has maphack into Jinro's brain and Jinro tbh played somewhat predictably (if that thor rush had been game 2 we might have gone 5 or 6)

Thanks, my stream lagged in the last game so bad that it buffed from the very beginning into gg........

MC won with solid play. I think he is officially the best protoss out there and he is gonna win this GSL with ease.

MC is gonna do exactly what he did today in the finals, except TSL rain is gonna do even WORSE trying to hold everything off.

Ezpz 4-0 finals is kinda sad though >.<

If I am protoss I am gonna watch JMC over and over again and learn his BO. Seems god damn powerful to a non-allin terran.

I'm not sure... Rain might do some hard cheese that might counter early sentry play and catch MC off guard

Anyway it's nice to see a protoss finally in the finals. Though I'd rather have had it Jinro vs HongUn than oGsMC vs TSLRain... even though I'll admit MC is much better lol

I would agree with you but TSLRain has TSLSangho and TSLTester to practice with and he has the games vs Jinro to study. That could change absolutely everything. If MC trys the same stuff in the finals, don't expect it to be so easy.

Very true, you can tell easily in game 4 when he sends a probe to scout the position where Jinro's probe was going to proxy the Thor. He really had Jinro's number unfortunately.

How is Rain gonna do WORSE? Jinro was read like an open book trying to expo or play econ builds. If anything, Rain will perform INFINITELY better as he's more unpredictable and has aggressive builds of his own.

I doubt Rain's hard cheese will be that effective. MC played the way he did because he knows Jinro is a macro Terran. The reason other koreans mix in cheese is so they can't get sniped like that. But MC will probably beat Rain straight up

I agree, Rain will one base until he has a large advantage if he watched today's games, game4 was just unlucky on jinro's part, but all the other ones he just gets punished with early sentries for FE'ing.

Both played against each other hundreds of times. Both knew each other's styles. MC simply has the better understanding of the matchup and therefore able to take greater advantage out of the experience.

With that said, Rain is dead anyway. MC's PvT looks as solid as Flash's TvP. MC's bulldozer strength in early pressure will force Rain to play exactly the way MC wants.

Fate smiled upon MC. If either Fruitdealer or NesTea ended up in the final, there would be a hard road ahead. But as it stands, it's pretty much a free win.

Yeah. Funny thing is I think Jinro would fare well against Fruitdealer or NesTea. I can't think of a Terran that would give MC too much trouble though. Maybe NaDa on a good day?

Nah, Won't be the same at all, Jinro's early game is pretty weak compared to his mid-late game. MC clearly didn't want to let the games go that long lol. With Rain... it might be kinda risky to try and end it with the first push because Rain might have all his scv's half way across the map by that point lol

That said, Rain is an extremely good T all around, he is in no way like bitbybit when it comes to play style.
