having to work and study at the same time, i normally carnegie school stuff during the day until the early half of the night. the rest i spend on odd jobs, mostly web, number crunching, and writing.
i can go on with very little sleep (1-2 hour power naps around lunch time could pull me through to the day) and am usually awake most of the time, especially at night. between pages and codes, i go to iccup to noobhunt or play some of my my favorite ums.
tonight however was one of those night when my apm (hehe, call it zerg pride, but i have pitch perfect multitaks skills in what i do xd) is massive and i was able to finish stuff before cinderella time. i told myself tonight deserves a well-snugged sleep.
i dropped by iccup one last time hoping for a picture perfect finish to the day. alas some silly 3v3 game it is... we started at 12:30, and we re and re until i noticed an eery glow under the main door. the lobby lights are white so it must have come from somewhere else. someone was using an old flashlight? i didnt mind, i had a game to finish. and a good night sleep to catch.
and then...
omg. omg. omfg. the flicker was now an unmistakable orange-yellow glow. fuuuuu...! i sprang from my bed (sitting on it) and rushed to the door. whoa. fire from the next door neighbor's kitchen. fire alarm. break glass. fire extinguisher. whhooooosh whooosshhhh woooooooosssshhhh! break the door. finish the fire. where is Su Jung nuna, the owner? she'll be pissed. god i mustve clocked 1000 apm in that short period of time. the kitchen window was facing the exit stairs, and the wall which holds the electricity controls for that portion of the building.
building admin was up shortly (i live on the 8th floor), and turned over everything to them. everyone was on the lobby. shocked. some still half asleep. i zombied my way back to my room. game stats. close iccup. shut down. (jesus, im still in adrenaline dump mode, i feel like i could sprint 20km now or box 12 rounds straight).
lights off. nodding myself to sleep. goodnight. gg

Whoa, crazy story. I always wondered if in the heat of the moment I'd be able to put out a fire. I mean fire extinguishers are probably pretty common sense to use, but I've never tried it.

Wow, good job! What was the cause of the fire?

I think anyone can do it when it comes down to it, no matter how they doubt if they could. Adrenaline gives you super human perception and strength after all.

Wow nice one man, i never know how i would react in that situation dont plan on finding out but still very impressive that you reacted in such a way.

You missed the part where you got 4-pooled and set fire to your neighbour's kitchen

It took me and my friends about a minute to figure it out under some pretty stressful conditions (for us at least). Let me just advise everyone here -- you have to pull out a safety pin first before you can squeeze the trigger =P And gently squeeze it... the force of the blast from the extinguisher can be very powerful, you'd be surprised. (the force of the blast had some bad consequences for me one time haha)

Wow, cool story!
It would be even cooler if you put pause in your game you were playing saying "brb" or something and then came back after putting out the fire and just finished playing like a true baller!

hey, back from school. i had to run it off in the morning. i came back around 6, with 2 police inspectors waiting for me (actually they arrived shortly after the fire [maybe 3ish am?] after the building admins reported the incident) but i was asleep already. they were nice enough not to wake me up then, and the building keeper told them just return early am because im normally up early. [jesus i hate it when people know my schedule LOL]).
just routine stuff: "what time was it when you noticed the fire? what were you doing that time? where you drinking? doing drugs? [tough luck officers, im as clean as a whistle xd] maybe you inadvertently cause the fire? [i was expecting this stuff. perhaps they ask this to push your balance off a little? but there are 2 cameras on lobby, and my heroism and apm is recorded forever! xd] what did you do during the fire? do you have any injuries? would you need assistance? ok thanks for your time, you did a great job with the fire." xd
they told me that faulty wires from the christmas lights caused the fire. it caught the curtain and eventually the wooden sill. then i came. yeah! su jung nuna was out that time and wasnt back until early morning.
i went back up, found the su jung nuna waiting by her broken door, inviting me in for breakfast. how could i refuse bibimpap!! the officers talked to her earlier, and she was cleared. so we eat on here dining table, staring at her burned window sill.
GHOSTCLAW December 02 2010 04:19 Wow, nice - good thing you stayed awake Did you win? xD i was at the bottom of the game stats. so maybe not LOL
imPERSONater December 02 2010 06:30 I knew I should have been playing SC all these years instead of sleeping. Now I have proof! i always knew in my heart sc was more than just a game! sc for life! cheers! xd
