ok so i guess i wasnt clear on the last post.
the main thing i am trying to do is get started running a small tourney. i know its weird to be in it, i probably wont be in the future.
anyhow, what is this nonsense about approval from blizzard? is there a link to see their tourney policies?
i am from the us, and seems like theres a little less going on here in terms of starcraft 2.
and finally, yes if someone needs another able person to help in a tourney, send me a pm.
i am not trying to go on and on about this tourney, like i said, just getting started. once everything is kosher, i will be posting in the official tourney thread. currently im just making posts here on my blog to get some feedback from you all who are more experienced.
thanks

The issue is that you want to charge people an entrance here which goes into the prize pool. Therefore you could take the money and run, which its different from just not paying the winner in a free entrance tourney. It's an issue of trust which is why Blizzard wants to approve it and why team liquid looks down on it unless you are an upstanding member of the community.

Okay, lemme get this straight. Your first blog about running a tourney is closed because you don't have enough of an image on TL to run such an event, so to speak (paraphrasing CTStalker).
So your response is to open pretty much the same topic, with a misleading title?
Huh?

seems very andy warholish, that i should work on my image. this is a blog, i dont understand why the hate and wanting to close someones blog post? i mean its sort of personal isnt it? have you seen wordpress going around closing blogs because nobody knows them? no?
so please, i am trying to get more involved with the community in tourneys, not just my own - what can i do to make my image better? i was thinking going small, maybe challonge and a youtube channel to start.. then maybe a website and some advertising later down the road. the first tourney is going great, i got beat out already. Everyone in the tourney knows what is expected and there is not really a way to exploit the setup if everyone keeps honest. it is totally worth $5 for my communicating who is up next and keeping it moving along. perhaps it would be better if i just say I'm sponsoring the prize money, maybe do $100 next time?
next blog will be about something else, and i will get better with the titles. if youre voting, please give this one a star.

Are you taking a cut off the top for your pay to play tournaments? That would be even worse...
I don't know what is so hard to understand. If some kid you don't know in school walked over to you while you were playing cards with some friends, and asked you for 5$ to compete in a euchre tournament... Would you give him the money, or would you be skeptical? It's not some vain andy warhol image we are talking about, it is basic human trust. Neither Blizzard not this site want to encourage or be associated with scammers. If you want to run a legitimate tournament, them do it, posting random, illegible blogs about maybe doing something at some point involving taking people's money is sketchy.
Chromate put down over 800$ of his own money to rent a movie theater for gsl 2 on faith that tl members would donate what they could to convert the costs. Have you done anything deserving of a stranger's trust?

no i didnt, any money would be put back into the tourney. this one was just a break even test run. $5 was not a problem, and worth it to the players.

I promise? I just want to have a real tournament, ive been playing sc (non competitively) for 10 years and know the game pretty well. i have no interest in scamming, or anything like that. all i need is some support and hopefully be there to offer advice and i do appreciate the help/criticism i have received so far on this blog. time will tell, yo.
