Please vote on this one!

Lately I have had the urge to start livestreaming my sets. Basically that would entail putting it on ustream or w.e, and having a cam view my set up with me mixing live. Even though I don't use standard turn-tables, it might be fun because:

1. Visually it might be cool
2. I can chat with viewers, maybe accept requests or genre changes or whatever.
3. Live is always more exciting!

The thing is that, I really wanna make sure it would be worth it. It might be a fair bit of extra work so I want your opinion. I would still upload regular mixes to soundcloud, this would just be extra for fun. Some tracks may repeat but whatever...I don't have a billion dollars to buy every track out there.

Poll: Livestream mixes via cam and audio?

Do it, I'd tune in (3)

75%

It's okay, but I can't see myself tuning in (1)

Eh, don't bother (0)

Couple things:

1. Good news, I am now able to put files on soundcloud as 320 bit rate, compared to the rough 128 before. I actually record in WAV, but the file is too huge so I need to bring it down to something smaller to be able to upload it online. I am using Audacity and it would always convert to really bad quality (128). However recently I discovered an option to be able to convert to 320 which is awesome because now it will sound WAY better (especially if you have decent headphones).

2. Just two questions I have regarding the format of my mixes. Since you guys make up pretty well 99% of the people who listen to my sets, I figure I might as well ask you what you prefer here:

Poll: What format do you prefer?

Shorter mixes (35-40ish minutes), but more often (once every 2 weeks or so) (15)

79%

Long mixes (anywhere from an hour and a half to 2 hours), less often (monthly) (4)

Nay (10)

That's about it. Next set should be up in about 1-2 weeks. Also please feel free to give me any suggestions for improvements regarding format, structure, genres, or anything about my sets. Also, thanks so much for listening, it really gives me a reason to keep making these.

Yay! I just found your stuff so don't have too much in the department of suggestion yet, but I voted shorter mixes because I like to listen to them while studying/running/working out, and 45 minutes is like the perfect time for a run slash a good indicator for when I should take a little breather from studying and what not. I'm also just a fan of variety and I tend to think of more mixes that are shorter to be more diverse than less mixes that are long. I don't know that's just my feedback haha

Keep up the good work!

Shorter songs are more exciting I think.
I'm always looking for different things to listen to when I'm drawing (the radio gets kindof boring) so thanks for sharing!

I'd be willing to listen to both super-long and shorter ones. Voted that I'd tune in

I actually thought the two-hour-long one was better than the most recent one (though they were both amazing).

Having a lot of fun listening to your stuff :D. Personally, like the guy above me said, shorter mixes feel slot more practical. I love putting something on for a class period or something like that. I never really got dubstep so I voted no, but I probably wouldn't mind it. Maybe I've just heard the wrong stuff XD

Thanks for the opinions guys, wanted more of them (as well as the bump).

Looks like shorter mixes won, but it seems like most people want a solid hour or so of music either for a class/work-out session/homework etc.. So, depending on how many tracks I buy for the month etc, I will probably find a nice medium of 50 min mixes every 3ish weeks or so.

I actually think I am going to start streaming practice sessions. Personally I think I need some experience playing live, even if it's just a couple people watching/listening. Probably will do it Friday night (not tomorrow but the evening after that), and will make a thread for that.

Well yeah I meant just a little dubstep. The second-to-last track on my latest one was dubstep, only threw it on for a little bit. I know what you mean though, I am not crazy about most dubstep myself, just the good tracks.

Based on the listen-counts, I'd say I'd agree.
