Seriously, it's getting ridiculous. I can hardly go a single day without making some dickheaded remark instead of "gg", and regretting it 2 minutes afterwards. I don't understand why I do it, but I do anyway.
I honestly regret it, and I apologise to everyone I've been rude to, but at this point it hardly means anything because I'll inevitably do it again sooner or later. So if anyone has been able to reform themselves from assholery I'd like to hear your input.
Sorry for the low content blog, but i wanted to get it off my chest. Maybe now that this is out in public I'll think twice next time..
I do the same thing due to the games I played in the past were more competitive and egotistical. Managing it better though with just a gg or saying nothing at all.
I think you need a bit of help being stricter with yourself. How about this: next time you don't gg properly and are bm in some way after a game, you pm me and I temp ban you for 2 weeks.

LOL ^^
OP: Don't sweat it man. If I'm working hard to get the win for 20minutes and then the opponents starts talking trash, then I know I got the game in the bag AND I've given a douche a beating. If a person gg's I gg back if the game was played standard. If I cheese and he gg's it makes me never wanna cheese again.
I don't see why you feel bad for shit-talking people. Its just Bnet man. If you were playing against someone who knew/respected or were playing in a public tournament I could understand needing to control yourself, but its Bnet man. Bnet is where you let out your anger on random noobs
As for getting out of the shit-talking habit. I just focus on the mistakes I made during the game and immediately go into a reflective state. That being said, it isn't abnormal to tell someone they are garbage, have no skill etc. I'll do it occasionally if I'm in a bad mood and get cheesed. I always say GG to people who outplay me though

well actually I'm kidding, I'm pretty manner now since I'm here to improve and not waste my time with petty trashtalks.
Yeah, you just can't let it get under your skin and make your mood worse. Otherwise its harmless and sometimes amusing.
Lol same thing with me but I don't feel bad afterwards. Some of my quotes today: "Yea terran's fair" "Yea bullshit all ins somehow don't make you a better player. What a suprise" (in response to a guy failing 4 wrapgate on me and then complaining about how he was bad at micro) "You play like a fag" (in response to a guy rushing me with lings and roaches off 1 base and putting 2 spine crawlers behind my natural hatchery" "Must be easy to win with units your opponent can't attack" (in response to me being roflstomped by dts )

So you don't feel bad about immaturely making the sc2 community less enjoyable for everyone?
You have to work in baby steps. First, try not gging at all and just leaving the game at first then slowly, just type just g, signifying you understand that you both played a game. Eventually, slowly start adding semi positive things to the g, such as "You don't make me want to kill myself, g", "I lost this game, g", "you beat me, g", "average, g", etc.

lol, i do this every now and then when it's justified (EDIT: when I think it's justified; perspective, perspective) or when i wanna vent. i hate how players can follow you out of a game and start whispering to you. by then i'm already midway into another game and i just don't care to argue any more.
and for your dt response, i make it a general rule to build an overseer the second a toss starts losing, cause 90 percent of the time, they're going dt.

Hey if it makes you feel batter, I remember seeing your name in a 1v1 once. You gged at the end, and actually said wp, so you don't do this all the time clearly.
If you honestly regret it then that is the person you are. Think about that regret when you know you are losing next time and end it on a friendly note.
If you don't honestly regret it then you are an asshole like a lot of us are to people online, and imo it's not much to be ashamed of. It doesn't imply anything about your personal life, maybe just what's underneath. I personally have no qualms about dishing out some hate towards people who I believe did not deserve to win over me (luck does play a part in SC, and I try to be realistic).

What i like most about this is you cheese 90+% of the games you play, then bm when you lose. Tickles my funny bone.

you'll find that if you say something that isn't totally mean, more often than not, your opp will help you out a little and be like "ya, nice try. just do this next time. gg". then your brain will be like "hmmm, what!? he was nice to me??" and you'll start liking it.
Haha I have the opposite problem, I won't speak to anyone on SC other than my friends. If they give a greeting I say gl, and I say gg at the end, and I haven't typed anything other than that in the last like 100 matches I can remember (or maybe ok if they ask to pause/ready to unpause), even if they message me afterward with anything.
say something really nice instead of bming, that's what i do...sometimes. I usually open by asking how there day is while proxing some gateways, then i continue talking about cool stories until zealots appear.

Seriously, if your opponent says anything in the first minute of the game, even glhf, you are getting proxied. This rule has not failed me yet on sc2 ladder.

I really hope that's an exaggeration. I get tons of gl hf's and I don't get proxied...
I pretty often type something at the end of a game if I'm rage-y. I just erase it and replace it with a gg.
Try that, you still get to be angry without actually bm-ing anyone. It's like the "writing an angry letter but not sending it" thing that every single sitcom has mentioned at one point or another.

Fixed?
Just kidding. I do agree with micronesia's comment though. You want to be stricter with yourself. Being nice isn't always easy but it's worth it.
Bitching after losing makes the other guy feel better and you feel worse. No need to apologize to anyone but yourself.
Talking shit while winning? You won, you deserve it. He lost, he deserves it. (Just to clarify: not because it's the internet. Because you won at a competitive game. Yeah, I talk shit after winning a fuzzball game too.)

On the other hand, if you quash a dude and hes going "you suck" I know I crushed his ego too, not just his army.
Now I know why people on NA talk shit alot when they lost. Really, if you lost, you must be frustrating or whatever, just quit the damn game without GG. Its ok. Why spend 5 mins to whine and insult your opponent because you lost O_O ?. When I lost, if I played like shit and throw the game away, I simple just quit w/o gg. If I feel I actually played a gg and still lost, I type GG and quit. OP you should try to do the same.

lol
Ohhhh. My personal favorite ethnicity to play was Peruvian. I would repeat some quotes, but I don't want to offend anyone. Their internet connections still make me bolt upright in bed, covered in sweat.
I've gotten into the habit of only gg'ing when I honestly believe the game was good and I got outplayed. I don't practice enough though, so when every game is me failing to hold off some sort of gigantic push I really don't feel like gg'ing.
BMing people who you think you're better than when you lose via nothing but your own incompetency is a way of life brother. Embrace and roll with it imo.
at least you're aware of it. i remember playing you on SEA and every game ended with you QQing about tanks saying they were unbeatable or soemthing rofl

Peruvian zergs are the kwanro's of ICCUP
I'm similar to you fenneth, just vent, it's much healthier than running out onto the street and stabbing someone when the next game lags
I don't understand why people start being like that. If you lose, wouldn't you just want to get it over with and start another game? I bm people who are doing lame excuses for their loss. Just take the loss and get over it
