Looking for a really good movie to watch tonight.

Drama, international, etc is sorta like what I'm looking for

(think: No country for old men). something not incredibly well known that I hopefully haven't seen.

any movie buffs on TL got some good suggestions for me?

Have you seen Eastern Promises? Kinda of NCFOM-ish.

12 Angry Men (The classic version) - not exactly international, but this movie is great. It really gets you thinking and it is most definitely one of my favourite movies. It's also cool that the whole movie practically takes place in one room.

Gran Torino I love this movie :D It also covers a whole bunch of issues for poor immigrants.

edit: Even if you have seen them before, they are worth watching multiple times.

Have you seen Brick? It's not exactly international, but I felt it was quite similar in mood compared to No Country for Old Men.

If you haven't seen Thirteen Days I think it might be exactly what you're looking for. I don't know if it qualifies as as not 'incredibly well known' or not, but it is an excellent film on the Cuban missile crisis.

Army of Shadows a French war drama. The director was at one time a member of the French resistance. A good film, definitely check it out.

normally i wouldn't comment because you behaved like an ass to me once, but as my movie taste is vastly superior i cannot resist: watch "The secret in their eyes" (preferably in original with subs, if you don't like that i'm not taking responsibility for the synchro), or watch "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" (original voices are way better but i guess you americans bleed from the ears from hearing a bit french); if you're into romance go for "Before Sunrise" and after that "Before Sunset". If you want to be reminded of your high school teen days and things you missed out on, watch "Dazed and Confused", if you want some controversial, dialogue-heavy philosophy science-fiction trip, watch "Man from Earth". If you need an unconventional (i.e. swedish) horror-movie with romance elements, go for "Let the Right One in" (I don't take responsibility for US adaptation).

Just some hints.

If you enjoy drama you could enjoy "The Road" (I didn't like it, but lots of people say its a masterpiece)

You've probably already seen it if you're much of a movie buff, but I'm always blown away with how awesome Daniel Day Lewis is in There Will Be Blood.
