Sigh...
Failed my G1 exit drivers test (for those outside of ontario, its a system of gratuated liscencing. G1 is the first stage, G2 is the second and finally you get your G).

According to the tester, i failed by "Accumulation of errors". Apparently I didn't look around at intercections enough. I didn't even know i was supposed to look in the rear view mirror when passing parked cars. It would have been helpful if my driving course had told me these things..

The thing is though, I didnt fail for jumping the curb during parallel park, not noticing the light turned red while waiting to turn and turned my wheels the wrong way when asked to demonstrate how I would park facing up a hill with a curb.

Fack...

Wow! If that was the rule over here in London, you'd never have a chance to look through your front windscreen.

Sorry to hear that you didn't pass this time. I'm sure you'll breeze it next time, now that you know what you're supposed to do.

One of my friend has failed twice in 3 past week. Keep trying your not alone lol.

Don't worry, just practice with someone serious. Maybe your parents instead of your friends.

We've got the graduated license shit in B.C. too.

I took driving lessons and classes with a proffessional driving school here, so I know all about the picky shit they mark you down for.
Things like checking all your mirrors and stuff when you make turns, keeping enough space for a small car between you and the car in front of you (nobody does this).

Whenever you approach intersections, you want to look from the left - center - right before proceeding. You kind of have to turn your head when taking the test to make it obvious you're looking around, or they might not catch it.

Didn't want to be so harsh, but it's true.
Try to consider the responsibility of driving, rather than "I can drive wherever I want whenever I want!"
You're driving a $20k+ vehicle at a speed that can cause 10x that in damages, and potentially fatal to many including yourself.

I'm always scared of overly eager drivers... Keep practicing! You'll be a damn good (safe?) driver eventually.

It's cool, I failed my driving test twice (this is after I had a learner's permit for 2 years). I got my real license when I was 16 and haven't had an accident in 5 years. Just go back on a different day of the week so you hopefully get a different tester.

Sometimes they seem really hard on people and other times they don't really care. I think it just depends who you get and how their day has been so far.

My first time I failed because I was apparently straddling lanes on a road that had no lane markers at all. At one point I'm sure it did but it the whole thing was torn up so I couldn't really have known. They also had me back into a spot which I usually do by turning the opposite direction so it's less of a huge angle, but I tried to do the huge angle and I was off by a bit, but she said I failed before that even, She seemed incredibly unhappy even before we started.

My second time I didn't even put my seatbelt on and the girl was like "do you plan on ever putting your seatbelt on throughout this?" and we had a laugh about it. There was even a 2nd tester who was new I guess on training in the backseat. It was awkward because I had a really small car and it was full of all my construction shit like hard hat etc but I made a joke that they'd need it and maybe that's why I passed.

I'm sure the testers have a certain pass/fail rate that they try to adhere to as well. I dunno, I feel like it's a little scammy at times.

LOL this is the most ridiculous, stupid thing I have read in a long time

if I did this I'd constantly run ppl over or crash in cars because I would be staring in my rear view mirror the whole time when driving around in Vienna

Well now that you know what they look for you should be alright if you keep those things in mind.

I failed my first time. I was making a left turn and had a non advanced green light. The guy tells me to pull into the middle of the intersection to commit to the turn (which I had not been doing because you are not obligated to. The light turned yellow then red and I did not turn because I got really nervous being in the middle of an intersection and did not want to hit anyone. Then the guy freaks out on me and I got embarrassed. Of course I made the error of committing to a turn and not following through, but I'm not sure this guy should have told me to get in the middle of the intersection in the first place. Oh well, that was a long time ago and now I have terrible memories once again haunting me. Thanks for bringing those back. Asshole.

How would they even know you're not checking your mirrors unless they were staring deeply into your eyes?

When I took my G2 test, the only mistakes on the paper were driving too slow and not using the parking brake when I parked. The first one I don't really understand since I drove like exactly the speed limit at all times except one stop sign where there was a huge bush and I couldn't see around the corner. Parking brake thing was stupid; no one uses their parking brake in an automatic car.

Anyways, better luck next time. I definitely agree with what some people are saying about the examiners having a good day or not. Try to schedule your test as early as possible :p

Don't think of it as fail, think of it as an opportunity that has allowed you to see what you need to work on. It's better to pass confidently knowing you can drive safely than to barely pass knowing that you probably didn't deserve the license yet. The main things you need to do while taking the test is checking both sides before crossing an intersection, checking your mirrors every 5 - 8 seconds, and checking your blind spot before turning/lane changes. MAKE SURE your head motions are very obvious. Overall, the examiners just want to make sure that you're a safe driver, as long as you demonstrate that, you don't have to do everything else perfectly.

I just passed my test last month, almost had a collision with another car but it was completely their fault. Think my examiner almost had a heart attack though LOL.
I'm never wrong. I once thought I was wrong, but turns out I was mistaken.

I turned 17 in June, so I took my driving test in January (16.5). To me it seemed pretty easy: driving around, three point turns, various intersections, parallel parking. That's pretty much it. Idk if the US is easier than other countries but thats how it is here (although I know many people who failed multiple times haha). Failing for not looking in your rearview mirror after passing parked cars is absurd

Let me say - What? Ask your transmission how it feels when you use it to park the car (stress it),
and don't give me the zero-incline excuse.

Just exaggerate, make the person know that you're looking around the intersection - you want to move your head left and right, that ought to show them that you are paying attention.

I failed my G2 the first time because there was a cyclist on the road. Because he was so far away, I ignored him and went on. Then all of a sudden he accelerated so fast that I had to slow down. I was failed on that account alone (even though the car was no where near him and there was no evidence I was about to hit him).

When I took my licensing test, the guy administering it stopped me, yelled at me for 15 minutes about everything I had done wrong, and how horrible and dangerous my mistakes were, then gave me my license and told me I passed
