So tonight, the big Virginia Tech vs Boise State game is on. I am a huge hokie fan as I live in the Virginia Tech area. But you know what, I don't have espn, my internet is too slow to watch at home, so I ask them if I can go to the university to watch. They originally say its ok, but then they tell me I have to get back by 11. I mean, the game starts at 8:30, and its not gonna be done by then. My gosh, I ask my parents to go here because I don't want to ask my dad to find a place where we can watch(we usually watch at a neighbor's) and just because its a school night I can't watch the entire game. I mean, tomorrow is a school night, but it ends by 12 and I go to sleep at 11 on school nights. I don't get what their fucking point is. FML!!!

Don't hate your parents. There are plenty parents far worse than this. >.>

Maybe they're just trying to be consistent. I guess it really depends on how often you ask to stay out later then your curfew, if it's rare, then perhaps they should be cutting you a little slack. But otherwise.... I mean, in a week you won't care, so it's not a huge deal.

That's nothing to hate your parents for. That's something to be upset about, because they are acting like assholes.

i feel you. my parents used to have stupid restrictions on me that were pretty pointless. But they let me have more freedom as I got older and older. It's just something you're gonna have to deal with till ur in college or out of the house.... shit like this totally pissed me off too when I had to deal with it, but now I realize that my parents did and are still doing a LOT for me. like zergneedsfood says, it could definitely be worse

Just say yeah mom, I'll be back by 11, and just come back at 12-1 in the morning anyways. Wtf you're already 18+, why are you even letting them baby you like that lol, even at 16, my father would let me out till 3 in the morning as long as I let him know I'd be back by that time. This just means your parents don't trust you at all.

yeah that sucks, but at least you know your parents. Know their faces, hopefully some of their background, had some good experiences with them, etc.

Some kids don't have that privilege in this life.

If what Never.Die says is true, that your 18+ (where did you find this? It's not on his profile or in his OP) then move out if you don't like it, if you're not willing to move out, then quit complaining.

If your 17 or under - deal with it. That is NOWHERE close to being a bad parent. When you grow up and become a parent, I'm sure you are going to have some moments with your kids and think "damn, my parents weren't so bad as i thought they were."

They just probably want you to sleep early and build a habit doing so. I never understood that when i was younger. But as I grew older, building a habit of going to bed early is great as it allows you to wake early and be energized. Lots of the stupid crap my parents told me and restricted me from doing really were words of wisdom. But if i was in your position, I'd be pissed. Just wait till your in college or out of your parent's house, you don't have to worry about any curfew. Remember your parents love you even if they don't show it.

I can't lie, I mean, exactly how would I lie in this situation? I've lied before, but theres not a lie i can tell right now. What would I say? That I had a heart attack or something. And I have to take crap or my parents literally go monkey crazy. My parents will do anything if they are pissed enough. And I have Korean parents, what can you do

Solution: Go and say you'll be back by 11. At 11 give them a call and tell them the game is running a little bit late and that you will do X favor/chore for them when you get back if they let you stay.

convince them you'll be fine tomorrow and you'll be back as soon as the game ends or something

also your parents might not understand you having enough time to play games more than on just saturday, but if you're a junior or senior then them telling u to study for SAT's is not being an ass

i think you're just being stupid with these rant blogs and need to just man up

edit: but yeah go to your parents RIGHT NOW and just try to convince them

Try a parent speeding up to 75 miles per hour on a 55 mph road just because her son got a bad grade on PRACTICE SAT.

Yup.

P.S. She is still mad, cursing 24/7, slamming all objects in her hands, and going berserk.

Oh look she slammed the door again.

Sorry but if an 11pm curfew is the worst you have to deal with then I'm afraid I can't muster much sympathy. Be grateful your parents care where you go and how you spend your time. I get that it's frustrating when you're in your late teens and want to be treated like an adult but the fact is you're not. Get back by 11 or deal with the consequences if you don't. That's life.

Meh, hating on your parents is a really bad mind set to get into. Just ace the SATs and get into a kick ass University, then live your life from there

Good luck

-_-;?

I never did either.

They had fun in their time, and I'm sure as hell they did give their parents a run for their patience.

Why shouldn't I?

Hey, we all had to deal with this stuff. I had resorted to playing some games after my parents went to sleep. If I heard footsteps coming from down the hallway, well, it was time to evacuate/hide the laptop under the covers, etc.

Again, this is something that will benefit you in the long run. All those bad mannered, foul mouthed little Halo brats people are always bitching about are the kids whose parents don't set limits on how much they play video games. Be grateful your parents are as involved as they are. Many kids are not so fortunate.

this. outside of absolutely shitty parents, they really do know best.

by the way, i expect an epic failure for at least part of your college career, hopefully then you'll realize that you are in is a result of your parents.

Don't watch the game, and don't read the scores either. You can probably torrent the games later on. Best of both worlds (except you'll be watching it alone and a day or two later.) You gotta improvise.

Tell your parents that you have the right to watch the game, and watch it. Then when they whine and yell at you when you come home late, tell them they're fucking controlfreak assholes. anyway OP eventually you'll realize that not watching the entire football game, or being unable to play your psp after 10:30 or being unable to play sc2 any day but saturday... none of that matters whatsoever. what matters is your relationship with your parents

you're not really gonna understand everything they tell you or make you do, and sometimes they dont make the best decision, but if you're really so emotional about such minor things.. it's no wonder your parents want you home by 11. my advice is be home by 11!

Watching a football game isn't a right, it's a privilege. I'd be really curious to see what your life looks like in 10 years if your parents let you talk to them like that. That's assuming of course that you're not full of shit which I think is probably more likely.

there's nothing wrong with this dude.

rules are rules, its a school night and you shouldn't be out that late. ur parents are just trying to teach you responsibility and prioritising =/

seriously lol @ the people who say watching football and staying out as late as you want at 16 is ur "right".

what a joke, its a football game, seriously.

and until ur 18 u have to do what ur fkn told

School should come before your desire to see a football game. It's called priorities. Your parents are right.

This. Steve hit it right on the head. Truth is, you are going to want to tell your parents to fuck off and do your own thing. Trust me (I say this from experience of doing such) that your parents tell you these things because of their own experiences. When you are young, you believe you have the ability to make decisions that will benefit you in one way or another, but that 20-30 years of extra experience makes a huge difference. Sometimes it sucks, but just listen to them and it will play out 10x better in the future- they really do just want what is best for you.

Sounds cliche, but its true. Hell, every time they do something that frustrates you like that, come vent with us

yeah dude parents can be lame as hell

i love how they just randomly decide they have to make rules and then stick by them without actually thinking very much about them at all, that's probably my favorite thing about parents

(i dont have to deal with this shit anymore... just reminiscing here)

I know you're going to be annoyed for a while, but you'll definitely look back at this and won't believe you bitched this much because of a game. I was actually looking at this thread just to see how badly someone's parents can be but after I read this I just lol'd.

My parents did give me curfews when I was younger but now since I'm 16, they gave me a LOT of freedom.

Basically, I can stay out as long as I want as long as I call them like once or twice every now and then a day or night. They trust me a lot and I respect their trust for me by not doing retarded things like underage sex or drinking. lol

I totally understand you but don't hate your parents for this... TRUST ME.

I can't stand my mom anymore. She thinks her life is a fucking drama where things are supposed to get better. She thinks that her fucking anger issues are all from me not keeping some promises. On top of that, she basically smashes any object in her hand when she gets mad, and takes like a most little fucking issue ever and make a whole 30 minute speech out of it.

Do you know what it feels like? Watching Korean drama unfold in front of your eyes.

I feel sorry for my dad for having to put up with all the shit that my mom brought into our family.

P.S. Best of all, I think she's fucking psychotic. Explains my past behavior in school, which I fixed through hard work.

P.S.S. Sorry for rant, but I think I would've smashed something in my room yet again if I didn't let this out somewhere to calm myself down. At least I stopped smashing things unlike...

wow... this is seriously like those kids who live pretty damn good lives and go all emo and hate on there parents because they didn't get the newest iPod for christmas or they only got $10 for lunch instead of $15.... It makes me mad listening to these types of people bitch about their parents / life given that they have it 100x better than most. It's fucking disgraceful. If this is the only thing you have to bitch about, you got it pretty good. Grow up and learn some respect.

Seriously, this is nothing to be that angry about. It's not like they're randomly bitching at you because they were stressed at work or putting up outrageous rules. You need to man up and set your priorities straight. Trust me, the relationship with your parents is the most important thing at that age.

If you want your parents to slacken a bit however, just start acting more mature. Start working harder in school, help out around the house, actually talk with them and not just when they talk to you, etc. HINT: It makes you more dependable in their eyes.

Edit: Oh and obviously talk to them about problems you have with them but don't end it fussing about it.

The fact that you still have the privilege to bitch about it on the Internet, I highly doubt that you truly hate your parents.

Next time you are feeling sorry for yourself, call your girl or friend instead of bitching on Internet. Better chance that you'll get that moral support you desperately need.

Drive on.

Dude, don't take shit from your parents. Sure, they raised you and fed you and clothed you and gave you a place to live for 16 years but they don't fucking own you.

I'm sure your dad was tripping on acid and doing a lot of coke, and your mom was a huge slut. They were just having fun, and now it's your turn.

Fuck what they "think". It's your fucking life, your 16 fucking years old. That's old enough to join the army, so it better be fucking old enough to do whatever the fuck you want. Guessing by your blog, you're very mature for your age. It takes a lot of courage to whine about your parents online instead of actually trying to have a conversation with them about your newfound independence.

No, seriously, your whinier than a bitch on her period.

Sit down with them, be serious, dont yell. And say nicely. something in the lines of "hello my parents, i love you, and i respect you. and i humbly ask you to give me trust that i can take care of myself, my studies in my own way. please lend me your trust and let me proove to you that i am growing up to be an independent individual. Let me go to the match and come back as soon as its over and ill show you my greatest thanks" or something. Maybe not that sappy. but you know, talk with them seriously. no yelling, for example, "Youre so stupid, why would u think ill miss school cause i go to bed 2 hours later? you suck!" give them respect, and ask for some in return.

That shit always works man, im such a manipulative bastard.
