Ah thanks, it actually wasn't intentional, I just cut out one of the sub-headers as the title, and didn't realize it was in caps until i realized how ugly it looked, then magically it wasn't kekeke Thanks ^^

Foreign Brand? Yes? Good, you're all set to pitch at the premium end of the market. New Brand/Product? You can position it on the mass-end; just remember RAZOR-THIN profits per item. And: NEVER SELL BULK GOODS IN BIG BAGS. Sell it in tiny 5-10 gram packages.

I'm curious as to how you predict a product will do well in, for example, mainland China based on how well it does in Korea; also, how you arrive at your numbers in the rest of the market relations section. At the end of the day, no matter what a lot of people say, in terms of valuations or forecasts it comes down to a lot of experience and how it translates into applied business 'knowhow' in how you then can express that in a form of an estimated percentage. I know that is a huge mouthful and seems like a bs response, but bear with me for a moment because unlike every other field where you can throw out bullshit and then its just an matter of opinion, in business, the profit and case examples speak forthselves. So. first off, the numbers are my own estimates, when I approach the market, its what I use. Now either I'm accurate this information is actually worth a lot of money and opens up a lot of opportunties or I'm dead wrong and one day I'm going to lose a lot of money on one of these deals based on my own experience. In terms of the background understanding of the situation: In the same development trend relationship that existing between Japan and Korea, where in the 1960-1980 most of Korea's corporate structure and business culture was heavily influenced by Japan due to the transfter of technology and filtered down business knowhow, China is in the same situation with Korea, except that this 'development trend relationshp' is based more on the consumer culture and technology approach. This is likely due to the fact that in the case of Japan and Korea, Korea did not have corporate business culture whatsoever so the easiest adoption was from the Japanese who were selling Koreans 2nd or 3rd generation outdated technology or the key product components - i.e. the magnetic head film reader in the VCR - lol that key. In terms of consumer, in Korea there was a ban on cultural products from Japan as well as a lot of cultural hatred against anything Japanese due to the previous feelings on the Japanese occupation. Now in the case of China, Korea is in some waysome type of far away tribe. Definately different, but actually very Chinese in many respects - scholar based society and asthetic taste that is somehow easily digestable by the Chinese. So in certain markets, the Chinese industry completely uses the Korean industry as a benchmark, for now and actually, I would say my statement of the '90% adoption rate' would have been more true 5-8 years ago than now, but damn, Apple and smart phones, wow... But for PC gaming on all levels, from e-sports trends, massively multi-player all from Korea. Consumer electronics as well as cultural Korean content, I'd say my estimate still holds true. I won't get into more detail there, you can google and reserach youself the amount of supporting data. But thank you for the comment, it has given some some ideas to expand upon in a few new posts ^^ cheers!

Singapore is frikkin brilliant...that lil fishing village is crrazy I agree, when I first went to Singapore, I was shocked/envious/amazed that it was set up like some ideal juxaposition of Hong Kong's urban landscape, but the refinement of London's west end. It's no wonder that the younger generation are gripped in a perpetual 'living with parent's mentality' because everything is so good there. And its funny when I hear young unviersity students complain how Singapore sucks...I can understand the feeling of constraint living in such a uptopian environment- but damn, no matter how you cut it, uptopian life still is pretty damn good.

That's why I forced all my staff to speak korean to me later when I made it as director. lol

Well, as a professional executive manager, the actual company doesn't really matter to me, I'll go where I'm need or hired. But working at that level with a full expense account and benefits, I think I love and hate everything about it. I love the executive level expense account: I hate the fact I have no will power and eat steak every night unitl I gained 50 pounds over 3 years. I love traveling and staying in 5 and 6 star hotels: I hate when I have to visit 3 countries in 4 days or am living in the same hotel room for 3 weeks and haven't see my wife and son for a month. I love the power and influence I have in my industry: I love to crush those who hate me in the industry lol, sorry this part is just full of love I love my staff who I've trained and they own; I hate my staff who I've trained and don't report to me anymore and have wasted all my time and training on them to simply cruise under another crappy director line manager. I love the challenge and competition, but I hate the politics among the other divisions who I have to work within the company who try to cut my budget without telling me and lying that I approved it by not sending it back to me for reveiw before the end of the deadline. But I love the fact that they do it on me, one time. I like the fact that I'm at the top of food chain that I can directly get on a conference call with that little finance department fucker with the head of marketing and an owner and call him completely ignorant and out of his depth of experience and that if he keeps speaking that he is really pissing me off and that I'm I'd rather he just shut up for the rest of the call. ^^ I'm only nice to my fellow geeks. keke. Of course I like the cash, but, a guy like me though, is never satisfied with how much he is making unless its at least 8 figures a year. Not because I like to spend it, but its like my score card. I love the freedom my job and position gives, but I hate that I never had time to do anything else but my job. I love the fact that I've worked at some of the best companies with some of the best people, but I'm happy I quit 6 months ago to just go a very very long and more longer than expected vacation ^^ Cheers

He got drunk in Shinjiku (in Tokyo) then starting talking shit, blah, blah, you think because you're Asian you know so much about marketing blah blah (he was drunk at the time), so I looked at him and just let him vent, then he started to point his figure at me and was about to poke me in the chest, then I looked at him right in his eyes and said to him, 'Jack*. Slow.. Down...' Then he sobered up a bit and realized what he was doing and walked quickly back inside the bar. One of our celebrity's bodyguards was standing by observing it, and you know what he said to me? 'Dave you a good man' lol It took all my will power not to take advantage of the situation and slightly escalate the situation so that I would be fully justified to knock him out, I mean how many opportunities do you get like this in your life? ^^

Basically armed with my consulting background and MBA, any type of company which requires upper management like a director of a region, VP or whatever, will pick me up, IF, they like what I represent on a strategic or experience side. Meaning either I'm a sick business strategist and they are in a bad competitive position or They want to increase their know-how in an industry that I have a lot experience and networks in. But, basically, its setting up new marketing channels, negotiating with suppliers, reporting to the excutive board, having a marketing or operations staff to either set up a new business unit or do a major marketing promotional campaign. The only difference from an executive manager and manager is the amount of authority you have over you own budgetary spend and the scope of the work as well as being one of the key decision makers for the company's overall or divisional strategy. A manager can tweat it or contribute, but the executive manager is the one with the final say and is ultimatley responsible. But trust me, everyone works their way up the ladder, litterally 18 hour work days for 3 weeks straight with about 4 hours of sleep max, setting up 2 casino poker rooms within 15 days from interior to training to set up and marketing promotions, working with gov't bodies to do policy on certain commercial laws. etc. But if you're focused,..well, just read my main blog if you are really interested in gettting there or just a step up the ladder ^^ Cheers! http://geektohero.typepad.com/geek-to-hero-mighty-atom/
