LP.net premiership -> 279762-73973 LP.net heads up -> 279762-73977
join em =)
also regardless of whether u join or not, what do u think of my team i selected? there's budget constraints so i couldnt go with all the star players but more tried to cater towards the fixtures, with WBA and newcastle being freshly promoted against Man U and Chelsea right off the bat.
isn't it better to go with 3 at the back and 4 in the midfield? anyway i suck at fantasy footall but i like your team, but isn't it a bit risky to go with 2 fulham defenders and fulham keeper? they play away to bolton who won't be pushovers and fulham have a new manager. also not sure how will Bent do but he is a good striker and should score vs birmingham
edit: also i don't really rate Berbatov but no better option there i guess edit 2: i would look at price of some Everton players like Cahill, Pienaar, Fellaini or Rodwell and see if they fit there somewhere, also i can see Wigan winning easy vs Blackpool so you could put someone from there, attack or defence doesn't matter, could be a bit risky since Blackpool are newcomers and you never know with such edit 3: what's the price of Joe Cole? he could be a steal..
as long as you don't overpay for midfielders or strikers (which is easy for me as i hate pretty much every single player that's valued over 10 million) you can pick basically anyone you want
Don't know the prices of the players, i'll check it out later but i'd look to get a city player or 2 in there maybe not for the first week but I think with their squad they are probably going to beat a few teams.
That seems pretty good, but I agree I don't think Fulham will be as solid as when under Roy
Maybe play 3-4-3, because getting points for clean sheets is always hard to predict
Personally, I'd pick United's new signing Hernandez (Chicharito) because he's probably cheap allowing you to spend more at the back, but he may not play as much as I think he will, hard to predict :D

Remember this is for the PL only not for overall season. I think i'm right in saying that Zamora scored more European goals than league goals. He did great in the Europa League but Fulham had a pretty rough PL season because of their thin squad and having to play 600 games.
yeah i see what u mean, midfielders do tend to score the most points with 5/goal and 3/assist, and thats a good point about fulham. i kinda forgot about how roy hodgeson moved on, i know mark hughes is solid but i was going off their strong defensive reputation from past seasons. also they're playing Man U (at craven cottage, but still) next week, so i might trade one fulham defender for a minimum priced and upgrade henderson to a better midfielder on offer.
i also dont rate berbatov but they have a seemingly easy fixture against newcastle at home, but rooney costs way too much, and chicarito like mentioned, im scared he will only play as a sub, which is badd for points
i wish i could play a Man U midfielder instead, but who do u pick? they change their lineup so often and their players are fairly inconsistent i found last year, like fletcher would have a great game one week and then not get any goals or assists for the next five. giggs is too risky since he only plays every second match. scholes is similar. their whole midfield seems to rotate a lot. even picking the wingers like valencia and nani, sometimes its giggs who plays on the left. so i always try and pick players who i know are going to get at least 70 minutes on the pitch ;P so Man U is such a dillemma in that sense which is why i went with Berbatov, cos he's cheap, has a good chance of scoring or getting an assist, and will have a good shot of playing.
Joe Cole is 9.0, which is a little too much. and also liverpool have tough fixtures, they're playing Arsenal first up, and then Man City the next week. same as Man City's fixtures, they open with Tottenham (4th place) and then play liverpool. so i'm trying to stay clear and add one player each week as part of the free transfer you are allowed.
agree with u about wigan, i was going to flood my defence with wigan players, since i don't see blackpool scoring. but then i saw their 2nd week fixture, vs chelsea :S and also fulham plays man utd as well. so i'll probably opt for a different defence that is looking ahead at least 2 weeks.
and i rate tim cahill, he is from my country too (australian), but at 8.5 i might not be able to fit him in without sacrificing ashley young, and aston villa have some good matches coming up against scrubs.
@sixfour
haha yeah i know what u mean, except i think there's a few players who cost a ton but constantly deliver points, eg lampard is always solid at scoring from the midfield which brings in so many points, and drogba/torres/rooney usually deliver when they're on form. but if u have too many, of course, u have to fill the rest of ur team with wolverhampton wanderers players which isnt ideal
@MooCow
thanks i'll check out that thread right after i post this
@TonyL2
thanks for the advice, i think im going to drop a fulham defender and get another midfielder like u suggested. i like hernandez but im afraid he'll be playing as a sub, so i might wait and see how he goes first match day and then bring him on in a transfer for berbatov possibly.
This is my team, for the first matchday. As for yours, my main problem is probably berbatov, aside from the 3 defensive fulham players. I find him to be rather inconsistent and doesnt always get playtime, even less I assume this season with hernandez coming into the squad, I feel you would be better off getting a smaller clubs main striker who is a pretty safe bet for like 10+ goals in a season. Saha from Everton would be my choice I think, at 8 i think he's a bit of a steal as I think he will play almost every game bar injury and last season he scored 13. Bent would be an alternative, though I am a lot more unsure on him as although he had a great start to the season he kind of faded away towards the end, though 24 goals i think is still crazy good.
@lyter mate i wouldn't have Mascherano since he might very well be off to inter milan, even if he isn't by then he still may not play. i like Milner in your team, good player edit: i'd get Joe Cole there, i'm Liverpool biased but he played so well in uefa quali, really hungry for football since he was injured for most of last season, linked up well with Gerrard, can't wait to see him playing with Torres

This and for the love of god do NOT put your confidence in Berbaflop i mean Berbatov.
If Fulham played at home I would have taken the punt with the defenders but Bolton away? Probably not.
Berbatov right now is a risk but if he gets consistent game time alongside Rooney with the appropriate formation he's going to be an absolute steal.
Instead of Ashley Young I'd straight trade for Valencia to buy in to the United attack but I guess Young is a good compensation for lack of Villa players..
Good to invest heavily on Chelsea attackers. The lack of Drogba for the first couple of weeks means Anelka will play a bigger role and Lampard is probably a 'must'.
Darren Bent is a good reliable forward also.
I like Jack Rodwell from Everton too, given that he starts enough. Other Everton people are Cahill and Arteta..
The weird thing about the last season was that a lot of the strikers were amazingly consistent and many goals were scored compared to past seasons. Interesting to see if this trend continues..
edit: Also consider players from newly promoted teams, Ormerod is only 4.5 and he looks good for a third bench striker. Also Sol Campbell from Newcastle..
you don't want to go with 3 at the back and 4 in midfield then? also is Gomes still playing for Spurs? they are against Man city, they've got a motherfcking Tevez mate. Maybe put Wigan's keeper in there? or Chelsea's since Cech is injured isn't he? they're reserve keeper might not be that expensive and still won't concede lots.
just do what I do and buy Foster and Sorensen, interchanging where necessary according to fixtures. Cheap keepers but they should do well. Sorensen always manages a load of saves and Foster will profit from Birmingham's decent defense. For GW1 I'm putting Sorensen in goals vs Wolves. Schwarzer works too but again, beware of fixtures.
Also: haven't been following Man. Utd but will Evans start? If you save money by taking my suggestion with cheap but effective keepers you could afford Rafael, who is more probable to start. Newcastle at home -> i'm guessing a clean sheet.
ah whoops sorry there was a reason for putting Gomes in and i wasnt trying to commit suicide against Man City and their megastacked lineup! but because i looked at their next 8 fixtures and they look pretty easy, at least, easy as far as premier league matches go
Future fixtures for Tottenham Date Gameweek Opponent 14 Aug Gameweek 1 Man City (H) 21 Aug Gameweek 2 Stoke City (A) 28 Aug Gameweek 3 Wigan (H) 11 Sep Gameweek 4 West Brom (A) 18 Sep Gameweek 5 Wolves (H) 25 Sep Gameweek 6 West Ham (A) 2 Oct Gameweek 7 Aston Villa (H) 16 Oct Gameweek 8 Fulham (A) 23 Oct Gameweek 9 Everton (H)
so my thinking was to put him in now, even against man city (but they're at home), and its one less player i need to trade in gameweek 2 which i can use on someone else. but i havent thought that far ahead yet who i intend to trade for. i know in week 3 i will probably buy some liverpool players once their fixtures cool, such as torres if he picks up form again, he has a phenomenal goal rate.
do you think i should play Jordan Henderson (Sunderland) over Bramble/Givet in defence? (Sunderland/Blackburn)
ibanez i know it says ferdinand is injured, and usually evans has been the backup centre-back. but im not 100% sure so ill check it before the first match and switch if hes not gona play
