Hey guys
So it turns out my 3.5 year old laptop is quickly dying. A 128 MB graphics card just isn't meant to last. I'm thinking of getting a compact 12-14" laptop with at least a 512 MB graphics card, as lightweight as possible within half a year hopefully.
This means I'll need about $1,000 to $1,500 I think. However, I don't think as a student I have that much disposable income, so I hope to be earning some doing what I already enjoy doing - which is playing Starcraft 2! =)
I'm not sure if this type of blog is allowed, but it's worth a try anyway.
I figure there are enough streams out there casting really entertaining games, that it shouldn't be something you guys need another one of.
As a player, I don't practice as much as others near my level (average 2 hours a day) but through fast thinking/reactions and smart playing, I consider myself a top player because I can think my way out of anything I encounter.
I'll be playing off my friend's laptop starting September, as I'm pretty sure he'll lend it to me and it'll be much better than the one i have now - which can barely run word processing in the background of SC2. I don't like streaming my regular games etc., because I tab out a lot and don't really play too much all at one time so it doesn't suit my practice patterns. So I figure I'll do a regular weekly (or 2-3 times a week) show/lesson type thing.
Three choices- all with regular "show times"
1) Detailed tips and strategic thinking etc. for diamond/platinum (protoss) players, likely to be weekly - will use my own replays and sent in replays, as well as publicized games from tournies etc.
2) Streamed, regular 1 on 1 lessons (students required)
3) Analysis of my own games, with a focus on my losses, maybe 2-3 times a week
Donations will be welcome, but definitely not required. I figure if you like what I have to offer and like the sound of my voice, the money will come in. I'm doing this solely to buy a computer so I can keep playing this game. Once I get it, I may stop streaming, depending on how it goes.
Please offer your input and complete the poll too =)
Thx!
Poll: What do you want to see?Tips, strategy for high level (protoss) players (73) 78% Streamed, regular 1 on 1 lessons (18) 19% Analysis of my own games (losses) (3) 3% 94 total votes Your vote: What do you want to see? (Vote): Tips, strategy for high level (protoss) players (Vote): Streamed, regular 1 on 1 lessons (Vote): Analysis of my own games (losses)
EDIT: of course if you want a combination of the three, just add a comment about it.
Clarification: I AM NOT asking anyone to pay for this. Like I said above, I just want to know what people want to see.

anything cause your a fooking pro.

As a protoss player i want to see all three =P
for the vote i choose "tips, strategy for high level protoss players"

i think u're better off getting a desktop like me.
I'm getting a intel i3 or amd phenom 2 x6, 1gb dedicated graphics (probably GeForce), and 6gb ddr3 ram for desktop, and that's only like $800.
Plus gaming on laptop never works out well anyways.

I like to pay for portability. I'll cover as much of the cost as I can of course, so I don't expect to get a computer solely with other ppl's money
EDIT to main post:
sorry, wasn't very clear, so here it is:
1) Detailed tips and strategic thinking etc. for diamond/platinum (protoss) players, likely to be weekly - will use my own replays and sent in replays, as well as publicized games from tournies etc.
2) Streamed, regular 1 on 1 lessons (students required)
3) Analysis of my own games, with a focus on my losses, maybe 2-3 times a week
so Option (1) covers my own replays and sent in replays. The replays will obviously be diamond/platinum players only.

why not try part time job at plaza's farahs? lol jk
serious question: so for choice 2 does the student have to pay or is that pure donation as well?

The student pays. They'll get the most out of it if they're in platinum or diamond. Lessons will be streamed as well.
I'll consider doing all 3 options, but time constraints will limit what I'm able to do so I'll start with one thing.

Mix between Gretorp and orb.
We want heavy analysis and starcraft innuedos galore followed by intense nerd rage and horrible judgements after losing.
You'd be the most popular stream around, I guarantee.
Example: + Show Spoiler + "This transition is going to take tempo control and hard counter his build, then ima put my gear in his re.. OH WHAT? Where he get all those marauders? WHAT THE FUCK BLIZZARD MY WHOLE ARMY JUST GOT RAPED FUCKING BUFF TERRAN MORE YOU RETARDS. God. *Flame some troll in the chat*

I just read the spoiler and was about to say, that's exactly what orb is there for lol
if anyone still doesn't know, antimage is one of the top canadian players so this is a rare opportunity

I'll watch anything you do Antimage <3
But some sort of thing for helping Protoss players could probably work.

Today I asked in a random irc channel unrelated to sc if anyone was playing sc2... a couple of people were. One of them commented he recently played against and lost to a pro/semipro player and when I asked who it was he said antimage! This was a few hours ago...

I'm all for a protoss stream. I'm slumping pretty hard right now. I'm only like 13 wins above losses... Good luck with this. I'm sure you can get a better laptop if you get one with a bigger screen around 15.6 inches. Must have moreeeee toss streams.
|
Please tell me where in Canada you find the upload to stream! Thanks <3

You will probably be able to pay for a new laptop with all the tournament winnings your about to earn in the coming months.
|
Thx for all your support guys! Haha Mumblee I'm not sure about that, but the problem is that I'll have to pay for a new laptop straight up without any of the cash coming in yet, and with everything else I have to pay for (textbooks, rent, food, etc.) in school I will be running very low.
I have exciting news regarding my stream/cast, and will be announcing something by the end of August/beginning of September!
|
Can I just say I love that you are doing things for protoss!
Also, either the 1v1 lessons or tips seems fine with me.
Tips are tricky, because not everyone is a high level protoss.
