Graphic Card Question

FiRe) United States98 Posts July 31 2010 19:59 GMT #1 I have a ASUS Laptop with a graphic card of GeForce 9600 M GS /w 1 GB and I'm getting a new laptop with ATI Radeon HD 4250...is the ATI going to perform better in games such as CS Source, NBA 2k11? My ASUS laptop keeps making my games lag 10 minutes into the game...I cleaned up the fan but still lags. ASUS Specs On the sticker it says my processor is Intel Centrino 2, but on the computer properties it says its Intel Core Duo 2.26 GHz 4 GB of Ram x64 Bit Vista The new laptop AMD Athlon II 2.3 GHz 4 GB of Ram DDR3 x64 Windows 7

QuothTheRaven United States5524 Posts July 31 2010 22:55 GMT #6 If the game starts lagging 10 minutes in, the problem is that you're trying to play games on a laptop, not that you don't have a powerful enough graphics card. Your computer is overheating and throttling itself to prevent hardware burnout, which in turn results in massive slowdowns. Try getting a cooling station for your laptop, or (cheaper) prop it up to get some airflow underneath the laptop and put a floor fan by it while you play. If I were you, I'd keep your current laptop and instead use the money to buy a cheap desktop for gaming, since the new laptop will probably have similar problems (if not now, then eventually).

FiRe) United States98 Posts August 01 2010 23:46 GMT #7 I see but I like laptop 'cause of the portability and I get uncomfortable when sitting on a chair with a desktop...I do have a desktop at home with ATI HD 3200 and runs CS:S smoothly. I don't know the 9600M hasn't been performing like one. But laptop sucks for gaming . Lol I'm not degrading it but this laptop is washed up now 'cause it's been treated badly where the battery life ended up being 15 minutes or so, so I'm getting a new one...the ASUS one was 1200 dollars, a huge rip off if you ask me, I only got it 'cause the graphic card but sucks now lol. So a cooling fan will stop lag during games aka overheating problems...
