okay...okay....admins are not chill with us doing tech blogs...but i gotta do it.
2 Terabytes gone? what....the ..fuck...?
i formatted some internal 160GB drive that was in the D:\ drive slot. then i changed its path to the :H\ drive slot. then, after that 160GB format was done, i inserted a 2TB internal drive full of data. and i assigned it to D:\ then i shut down my comp.
next thing i know, i open my computer some 5 hours later and the 2TB drive is FORMATTED?!?! 0.000bytes of DATA on IT?? WTF
thankfully i got a very same 2TB back-up drive containing the very same data stored in my Grandma's basement (thank god)...but still ...WTF is this shit.
i am insane? or is this normal.

EDIT: Nvm i figured it out
It sounds like some problem with your SATA controller, something messed up to cause it to format the drive. There's a whole host of problems but you could probably start with using a disk check utility to make sure it's not messed up, if you're using onboard motherboard SATA switch to a card and vice versa if you can't fix your problem.

I'm having a hard time determining the course of action here but this isn't normal and you're most likely sane...
Try it on a different SATA slot.
Note that hard drives die a lot (especially seagate!!)

thats my worst nightmare right there :S

i got into some fight with my mother tonight....and with my father too..but to a lesser extent... ( then i was gone most of the night)... im trying to figure out if this shit is caused by them ( they know i love having lots of data, and how time consuming it is for me...so they're kinda against it) but usually...when things are bad at home, .they have a tendency to fuck up my work place physically (moving stuff all over the place)...but they've NEVER played with my comp, i dont think they would do that....usually my mom just kidnaps my fuckin' case and my monitor... some stuff on my computer table was moved tho.... anyhow...dude...wtf, i dont know.
i use my MOBO's default sata hookups, and i do NOT run RAID arrays of any kind...
dude, before anything i had on hand;
1- my 80GB OS drive; ( that didnt change) 2- a 160GB drive, half fulll. 3 -a 2TB drive, 99% full.
now my goal was to format my 160GB drive. and also, i wanted to change the path letters.
im 200% sure i didnt click on "format this 2TB drive" ...im not that stupid, and it usually takes 4 hours. which wasnt nearly close to how long my computer was powered on.
just before i formatted my 160GB, i took my 2TB out of my computer (pulled the plug on the SATA)
just to be safe i guess...and because i dont like my slow ass comp to handle too many drives when its doing formatting. then after the format was done, i hooked up my 2TB back on, and assigned it to D:\ then i shut down..

wow i hope they didn't fuck with your stuff I might lose it lol. i generally keep pretty calm but that kind of vindictiveness could make me go apeshit
my recommendation if it turns out it is formatted and it is doomed: pretend u got a crazy virus on it and you had to format it.
also.. out of curiosity.. what do you have 2 tb of? pirated shit?

Is your OS drive a SSD? =P
And use a linux boot CD or something like that to make sure your HD is empty. Maybe Windows is having trouble seeing it or something.

It's time to crack skulls.

Use SequoiaView, it is freeware, to see where your missing memory is

meh..........fuck that...using all those little programs wont ever recover 2TB...not in their entirety... and that would take way too long...
i might as well just go get my backup drive at my Grandma's and copy the full shit
anyways...fuck that...i did a full format today.. (on top of the ghost format).... still...this is the most retarded thing that ever happened to me in my computing career
