Hi TL, TL好! I've been on the forums for a few years but rarely post. I thought this might be a suitable time to do so, as I've recently arrived in Beijing for a six month stay to study Chinese.
I'd like to ask everyone, especially our Chinese TL friends, what the best way to watch SC is while I'm here. Of course, youtube is blocked, and in the best interest of my studies, I think it should stay that way. But I'd like some advice in getting around sites like wfbrood, which I've found is pretty good, though it spoils like mad and I've been unable to connect to live streams.
Also, Chinese casting of matches would be cool. I ran into it sometimes when in the US but have no idea where to find it consistently or who is good.
Also, if you know anything about China and would like to give non-SC advice on what to buy/do/travel/eat etc. etc., please let me know!
谢谢你们,我需要你们的支持,请帮助我在中国看星际!

As you mentioned, wfbrood is good. Tudou and youku also upload vods pretty fast; usually faster than youtube accounts do (jon747 and nevake). So if you don't mind watching them in a few hours and not live, you might as well just check on Chinese video sites.

你好 For the live, Yaoyuan is great. They restream the streams from the TLers, but with a good chinese server. They have chinese casters that are not very good. http://www.yaoyuan.com/live.php (need uusee + IE but works great. ) For VODs, youku has a lot of old vods, while WFBrood has every recent game, and most of the time they upload the latest games only few hours after they've been played. gl hf in China !

for Streams and VODs, plu.cn is probably the fastest and the most popular, the commentary is usually also quite high quality Stream wise, yaoyuan is good, must most Chinese online P2P streaming programs like pplive, uusee, ppstream, etc will have live broadcasts from sites like plu.cn or 17173.com, which is usually the korean streams with Chinese commentary

1.plu.cn <-- daily commentaries, etc. Very populated community.

Does China allow proxy. If yes, then you can "hidemyass.com" to youtube.

wfbrood.com plu.cn yaoyuan.com
Those three sites should cover most of your Starcraft needs while in China. Tune in to 1.plu.cn during games for live Chinese commentary and pretty stable/HQ streams.

ppstream, select the starcraft channel.

You can search for reps on www.youku.co www.tudou.com
Western outlets may be inaccessible due to lag or The Great Firewall. You may consider investing in a VPN.
In Beijing, best places to hang around are in 朝阳区 and 东城区. Unfortunately, most universities are in 海淀区 (which is a ghetto). Best way to get around during peak traffic is on the subway lines.
Oriental Taipan (东方大班) is great for (clean) massage, although a little pricey (100RMB). You can get better and cheaper (clean) at corner massage parlors; but they are hard to pick out.
Visit Silk Street (秀水街) at least once.
Houhai (后海) is the best bar district.
三里屯 is quite popular. They've opened a brand new mall (三里屯 Village) and there's bar street across from it (啤酒街); worth a visit. Some decent clubs/bars/food behind the mall however.
Make sure you visit 香山 during the Autumn, when the leaves start turning color.
中关村 is the best place to purchase electronics.
If you need extra dough, you can find work as an English teacher starting at ~100RMB/hour.
Make sure you try out the food from street vendors. My favorite is 煎饼果子. Great meals can be had for around 10RMB.
Also, you can hire a highly qualified personal tutor for about 50-70RMB/hour. Some universities have "Teaching Chinese to Foreigners" as a major. When I was in Qingdao I had a University Chinese instructor with a Masters in Chinese tutoring me for 50RMB/hour.

I would rather pay money for a professional & legitimate service. You wouldn't give strangers a livestream to your browser window; so don't give it to sketchy proxies.

Thanks guys! I'll try out PLU and those other sites once some proleague or something starts streaming.
Let me know if you've got any more advice! I can get around the Great Firewall if I need to, I think, but that's not my main focus right now.
