I would like to ask you to recommend me some quality movies or maybe even cartoons which are good and are related to northic mythology. Gods, valkyries, heroes, this kind of stuff

I know here are many film experts at tl, i hope you could help me out.

How about the 13th Warrior it is nordic and has a bit to do with the gods etc iirc. Been quite a long time since i saw that tho

I've recently watched Ring of the Nibelungs (also goes by the name Curse of the Ring) and enjoyed it quite a bit. Having read the story when I was a child the movie seemed above average.

yeah, i've seen these, valhalla rising doesnt have much to do with mytholgy though, beowulf is kinda lame, and it's an ancient english myth afaik doesnt have much to do with Odin and co.

Ring of the nibelungs, yeah i saw that one and i liked it, i'm thinking something along that line

Got to check this out, I loved the Niebelungen as a kid. It is german though and not norse.

i mean no disrespect to unorthodox films, i watched Tarkovsky and Fellini and many other non-hollywood productions, but this film was like this : + Show Spoiler +

silence, guys getting beaten up, silence, guys getting thorn apart, silence, somehow they arrive in NorthAmerica, silence, guys getting massacred, silence, main savage hero demigod getting squashed by some indians, blond kid stairs at nothing. Not quite the definition of a good movie

if you were into manga (which i don't know) i would recommend you Vinland Saga - epic story in nordic (viking) context.

as far as movies go.. tough call! there are actually too few movies of high quality that really catch norse atmosphere / mythology.

Well, i do am from sweden, so i know quite alot about it since it`s mandatory to study it in school at young age. We do infact have a GREAT comdy show about vikings.. However it is in swedish. Let me know if you are interested and i`ll try to see if i can find a eng subbed version for you
