Yup, I got 'em. Or... one.
So a bunch of us went swimming in a lake at a friend's lakehouse for a party, and there were ticks there, which we were all made aware of, so everyone was consciously checking their body for ticks. I look up and down my legs and I'm like, "Cool, no ticks," and I happily go about the rest of my day.
That was on Saturday.
Today, I'm in the bathroom, and there's a tick. On my penis. This sets me up quite well for some sort of "tick in a box" joke, I presume.
I really don't know how I missed it for five days, but I guess I don't constantly look down there for ticks. So I pull the tick off, stuff it in a plastic bag, and put it in the freezer, because that's proper procedure for handling tick bites. It's so that if you get sick, you can bring the tick with you to the doctor and they can perform tests and go all DIAGNOSIS!!!! on that tick. Good to know.
Anyways, I got some questions for you all.
1.) Anyone know how long it usually takes for symptoms of tick-borne illnesses to arise? It's been five days, I don't feel sick, and there's no bulls-eye on my skin for Lyme's disease or whatever, so I'm pretty sure I won't get sick, but I don't really know.
2.) How can you tell if a tick is dead, and how do they control their blood intake? I think they're generally pretty immobile, and this dude was on my penis, so I'm wondering if it would die to a boner or something. Higher blood concentration should mean more flowing into the tick, right?
I guess it all makes for a decent story.

Just make sure to check for a red rash that has little rings around it around the area where you were bit. That means lyme disease. Of course, you're in China so you probably have some different diseases than where I live.
|
I just put China because I'm Chinese. I actually live in Virginia. I should probably change that. Never really bothered to, though. Too much effort.
But the bulls-eye mark always shows up where the tick bite was? That would make sense...
|
1. I have had hundreds of ticks when I was a kid, cuz I loved to build huts in the forest, and never got sick.
2. Make sure you took the head. The head is strongly attached to your skin, and most of the time when you take off a tick, you only take out the belly/ass, and leave the tiny head on your skin. In that case, it still alive. Desinfect properly even if your dick might hurt.
|
I watched an episode of curb your enthusiasm that dealt with tick bites. this makes me an expert of sorts. make sure you get checked for Lyme disease!
|
Dr. Seuss would have a field day with this one.
Ticks on sticks, now ticks on dicks; They pick your prick to play a trick! No ticks pick chicks, that's not the schtick; Ticks dig Rick cause Rick's dick's thick!

But the bulls-eye mark always shows up where the tick bite was? That would make sense... Yeah, but supposedly you don't always get the bulls-eye w/Lyme. But I think only deer ticks give you Lyme around here, so just make sure it's not one of them.
|
you're supposed to grab it with something hot so they will let go of you instead of ripping them off and (sometimes) leaving their legs or w/e still inside your body, which is what might get you sick..at least that's what I was told when I was a kid

that was not a nice story.. i would be freaking out if i were you... and it does depend on the tick it was only some have deseases.. not sure how your skin reacts to the bite though.. so when are you going to the doc?
|
Seems more likely that the tick got on some clothes and days later crawled onto you.
|
yeah only deer ticks. they need to be on you for 24-48 hrs to get anything as lyme disease is passed through their salivary glands into you. this is why it's important to recognize and remove ticks ASAP.
watch for the target lesion, as others have said. should show up within the week if you have it. you don't always get the target lesion, though, as others have ALSO said. so if, in a few months,
you start feeling a little sick just remember the tick on your dick.
|
Ugh you made my skin itchy just reading this blog.

If you get sick, hope it is lymes. If you get rockey you are pretty much fucked.
to answer your questions: 1) a week to a week and a half is the incubation period. Takes about 24-48 to get it. so really almost 2 weeks.
2) they generally feed for a few days and then drop off. they dont really explode by eating too much. they can stop when they want to.
|
fuck my head itches now WHY DID I CLICK THIS
also, lol dickbug

I definitely removed the entire tick, not just the body. I could tell its little head was attached to its body. It wasn't a deer tick, I think. It was gray-colored, and didn't look like what I googled.
Sutureself, are you sure of that time frame? The target shaped mark has a week to show up?
I want this timing window to be as small as possible, so that I'm sure this tick didn't hit some kind of EE-HAN TIMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But yeah, I removed the tick, and I don't feel sick, so for now its all good.

I had a tick on my head(in my hair) about 3 summers back. Got Lyme disease, paralyzed half my face and got a raging ear infection. If you do get Lyme disease, just catch the symptoms early like I did, go to a doctor and get medicine. If you let it build up too long, the paralysis could spread to your body and be permanent.
|
No fever, headache, or muscle pain. No bullseye mark or noticeable infection.
Also, the tick I had did not look like the ones that carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or Lyme's disease.
I washed the bite area with soap and everything.
Gotta say, I'm starting to get more and more paranoid. I was feeling a lot better before I posted this blog.
|
Hope you don't get Lyme disease. I got it when I was a kid and it sucked hard.
Half of my body swelled up and I couldn't move for a good week.
Seriously, though. Go to a doctor, get it checked out. That's your best choice in this situation.
|
Being that you don't live in Colorado like I do. My by no means professional opinion is that you don't warrant an immediate doctors visit to check out your "situation". Lyme and Rocky Mountain spotted are pretty prevalent and synonymous here with having a tick.
EDIT: LMFAO @ "EE-Han timing!!!!"

|
I'm pretty sure you are fine... You're going to give yourself lyme disease by thinking about it soo much...

I had one when I came home from being up north this last weekend. I thought it was a piece of dirt and tried just brushing it off. I ended up just ripping the fucker out. I have no idea if I left the head inside or anything else. Hopefully I don't get sick here anytime soon because that would be depressing.

Wow this blog is amazing! GL with the dick tick..lol nice little jingle! ^_^ Edit: GL hope you don't get any bites..ouchi

I've gotten 6 or 7 tick bites in my life and never gotten lyme disease. However, one of my friends got it. It's not a big deal if you catch it early. Just check your body for bullseyes, read up on the symptoms for lyme disease and mountain fever. You don't need to go to the doctor, just be aware of the symptoms and go to the doctor if you notice anything.

just checked my dick
god damn

I just used a pair of tweezers and grabbed the tick as close to the point of contact (its head) as I could, and pulled with steady, gradually increasing force. It came off eventually, all in one piece.

A friend of mine, one of my best friends actually got half his face paralyzed from TBE. Two face!
Eventually it got better and these days he's pretty much fine

I was bitten in 4th grade and it meant horse pills for a month 3 times a day. Sorry TT

From what my aunt told me - she is a doctor - you are supposed to poke a tick that is biting you with a very hot needle... or whatever else you have that can get very hot very fast. This makes the tick release its jaws and fall out and then die - or at least I think that they die - regardless, the tick comes out without leaving his jaws inside of your dick. This is something that you should double check if you haven't already
I hate ticks.
|
I think you should go to the doctor as soon as you can. It sounds like your worst case scenario justifies a visit without getting symptons, at the same time I know american health care can be fucked if you are not insured. Still though I got bit by a dog in november, I did not go to the doctor within a day, and my leg(what got bit) was infected pretty quick, then my knee started getting fucked( it was like internal itchyness_. In the end the infection was not serious enough to stand long, but my leg is still feeling the slight effects of it, and the infection made the overall muscle strength dimish such that it has taken like 7 months and counting to get to its original strength. All I'm saying is that an infection can get out of hand quick.
|
was the head attached when you put it in the freezer? Be certain the head was not embedded in your skin. If it is not in your skin, you're in good shape. If it is in your skin, get to a doctor immediately because there is no cure for lyme, but early treatment staves off the worst effects of lyme.

I work in the forest for the summers, and we found the easiest way to remove the ticks was just the inclusion of dish soap to their body. They usually don't try to burrow farther into the skin with soap.
|
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but consider hitting up a doctor and do a test for tick diseases. Someone I know caught a serious blood disease likely due to the "borrelia bacteria" or something from the tick, and even though it's only a smaller percentage of the ticks that carry disease, having ticks can be lethal if not treated properly. My brother went when he had a tick, but luckily didn't get sick.
Btw, it's common to go even though you don't know you've had any ticks, cause chances are you have been bitten in the past, and the bacteria is in your blood.
