So since I created my Bnet account while I was in Canada, thus the account is originally made for the North American region. I didn't remember that when I came back to Bahrain, and I added the SC2 beta key to that account. I eventually was able to share my account with a friend of mine in the US and alternatively made another account and get another beta which got attached to Europe (Bahrain is apparently in Europe region in blizzard's terms). However, just out of curiosity I contacted Blizzard about the account and if they can change its nativity to the European region for future purposes etc. So here is what I got:
Greetings,
My name is Randy from Blizzard. I'll be happy to assist you.
Right now, with the Beta, there's no way to switch regions. Once the full game comes out, you will be able to select your region just like with our other games, but until that time, it's locked to the region set on your account. The only way to really fix which region your Battle.net is set to would be to set up a new Battle.net account.
If there's anything else I can do for you, feel free to reply directly to this e-mail and I'll be happy to assist. Alternatively, contact information to reach our Billing Center may be found in the link beneath my signature.
Good hunting,
Randy M.
Yeah so what I didn't get was choosing your region thing "like other blizzard games". What did the guy mean, does it mean once u register it they ask you which region do you want it linked to or something like that? Just wondering.

lol at "other blizzard games." The only other blizzard game that locks accounts to a region so far is WoW.
I believe he means that when you use the SC2 CD Key to add the game to your B.net account you get to choose what region to have it locked to just like how you choose your WoW region when signing up for the 10 day free trial.

I read that as "once the full game comes out, you can choose which region you want to play in like BW, War3"
Hopefully it's not just wishful thinking

From the reply you got, it seems like Blizzard is still taking good care of its customers. I really have faith that SC2 will not be region locked like WoW.

"Randy"'s language seems, to me anyway, to imply that with the full release, Battle.net will not be locked to a region.

That's what I got out of reading this too. I am...hopeful?
Hopefully Randy doesn't get in trouble for spilling that detail, if it's true (cause he would be the best Blizz response to anything SC2, thus far.)

I'd have faith in this if we weren't also being told the exact opposite by some of the higher-ups.

You can read it like choosing regions as in broodwar: US east, US west, Europe, Asia

"like other blizzard games""
^ just like Broodwar and Warcraft 3.
That is some really great news!

You're all getting excited over nothing. Most people mean WoW when they say 'other blizzard games', and higher ups have confirmed that there will be region locking on release How the hell are you guys still this optimistic after everything actiblizzion has done?

It's best not to take anything a customer service rep says as fact. They don't really know what they are talking about. They can either handle a problem or they can't

I think Randy means that:
Once the full game comes out, you will be able to select your region
By buying the client for that region.

I'd be surprised if it was anything except this.

This was also how I read it as the clients problem was that he moved to Europe.

Yeah the OP of this blog and the first few posters are drastically behind on the news. Blizzard has confirmed region locking (google "frank pearce interview"). You must buy another copy of the game if you want to play in a different region.
