If you were watching the OSL final yesterday, you might have noticed that Jaedong made a surprise appearance to scout out his Future opponent.

He was wearing a rather cute t-shirt.

Emlary quickly noticed this was no ordinary t-shirt.

Now, if you can afford and like t-shirts that cost over $100, that's all fine and good. I Just hOpe he doesn't acquire an excessive taste for such things, because we all know what happened to the last person who went down that path.

My $100 is for SC2 collector's edition.
No more SKT1, it's SKP2.

Looks like Coach Cho is calling someone to arrange the match in a similar fashion as the OSL.

Imagine the insane amount of money Jaedong could potentially make if he threw the match.

Whoever made that shirt is a genius. It looks like they took a drawing from their kid, and they can sell it for 100$?

Even if you make 100k a year doesnt mean you can throw money away, all the small stuff add up and hes not going to make that much for a long time.

Its pretty ugly imo for 121 bucks shirt.

Actually if you make 100k a year without any kids/dependants you can throw money away. 100k is ALOT of money for one person.

ok seriously, $100 for THAT? I've spent $100 on t-shirts before but they were actually good looking t-shirts and not something a 10 year old happend to draw on a white t-shirt. JD you got too much money!

Not to mention he has no house/food to pay for, since that's provided by Oz.

Yeah it really is a ton. Like someone making $100k and supporting a family of 2, mortgage, car, etc., is considered to still be doing quite well.

Given that Jaedong doesn't even have to pay for food and board and makes upwards of $300k when factoring in prizes and endorsements, he probably literally ends up with about 10x as much spending money in his pockets as someone in the situation I just described.

I thought JD was one of the progamers with worst payroll compared to his accomplishments? I remember reading about this in one of the countless articles about his "Free agency".

I very much doubt he makes 300 000$/year.

EDIT:
According to an article at gosugamers:
The financial argument also exists, as OZ offered the legendary Zerg a base salary of $112.500/year with possible bonuses adding up to extra $50.000. Player's family, however, requested a base salary of $145.000 and an advance on bonuses as well.

he makes much more money from bonuses(fk latin) and doing commercials and advertisements for products. I remember a guy saying earlier its quite common to see a billboard with Jaedong's face on it. While he probably doesn't make as much as 300k, i think 250k is quite possible.

wow I cant believe that shirt costs that much... I find it a bit sad tbh, reminds me of savior and the stupid superexpensive shit he bought with the tears of his fans.

But that's a harsh comparison of course, I still love you Jaedong.
And yeah 100$ isnt that much when you make as much money as he does.

Its all about apperances ... and 125USD isn´t THAT outrageous, at least not if you translate it into swedish kronors (probably around 900, your average "nice" t-shirt would be 5-700)

you guys are gawking for a $100 shirt?

Koreans are the epitome of people wearing/trying to wear expensive shit..
$100 is nothing..

For people who watch/follow korean people so much.. I'd think you guys would be used to it by now.

I find this entire thread to be ironic. Haven't you guy's seen people on TL.net dish out $100 dollars for a progamer jacket, or $50 for a progamer shirt? Granted they look cooler, but the overall idea is the same. For people who don't watch progaming or understand progaming, the jackets might look weird/lame (due to all the names on it), and some people even get people staring at their shirts when they wear them (due to wtf moment). Same thing for this, for people don't understand the fashion sense of it, or whatever statement he thinks he is making by wearing that shirt, you guys will criticize. But, you are all hypocrites as well since you do the same thing with progaming clothing.

?? sorry but that's a terrible analogy.
It would only be viable if brood war costed 1000$ while all other games cost 10$.

what I'm saying is that high price doesn't mean its better than cheaper clothes, and that if you just keep looking long enough you find great looking clothes for good prices.

Nothing dude. The close-minded ones are the fashion afficionados who are getting all upset that people question ludicrously over-priced clothing. Hey, here's an idea - if you think fashion should be treated as art, expect criticism. That's what happens with every other art-form.

Goddamn elitists.

Oh, and agreed. That was a terrible analogy to broodwar. I love how people bring up broodwar as an analogy to try and make a point no matter how badly disimiliar it is to the subject.
