Should you dress up?
For example, usually during a career workshop people are dressing up. I'm about to volunteer @ a hospital, and I'm not sure if I should dress up considering it's just a orientation. However, they do state that have to sign up for interview so I'm not sure..

You dont have to go in with a suit and tie. Smart casual is totally fine.

I wore suit/tie to an interview where the employer wore really casual once.. Felt embarrassing.

u could just phone and ask the hospital

It's always better to over dress then to under dress.

It's a volunteer job...you don't have to dress up formally. Just wear a nice button down shirt with a nice pair of jeans. Add in some dress shoes with that and it's all good. I think you would just look very awkward dressing up in a suite for a volunteer job.
If it's for a job job, I agree with TadH.

Pictures of you in a suit please.

Its a hospital. You should dress smart casual, but not a suit. While its only an orientation, its the type of thing you should be wearing when working at a hospital. Suit's make you look too rich and too casual makes you look unprofessional.
