I'm currently a computer science major, but proficient in C++ not Java unfortunately. You can check out that link I put in my post up above and go to Computers -> Programming -> PM someone on that list under Java for more help. Also probably check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(programming_language) and http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/

Say you want the computer to perform a task for you (i.e. writing a program). The essential step is to understand what you are *actually* trying to do and break it into small pieces (like drawing a flowchart), then write out each piece in machine code (such as Java). Typically, the second part is easy once you grasp the grammar of , say, Java (which should be commited to memory), but the first part is where a lot of people find it hard.

If you state them here, we can better help you. Introductory programming is pretty basic stuff. I mean if you've done high school level math then you should have no trouble understanding the basics.

It can really only hurt making vague ops and stuff, even though people rage at hw(or the like) threads there's usually a person or two willing to help you if you just ask
