EPTI ended up getting into a nice school and moved to live with some relatives, in a much nicer place. It sucked leaving my mom behind, but I knew me being away put her mind at ease. She eventually got remarried but all of that is pretty irrelevant. Anyway one day, completely out of the blue, my father shows up the café where I was working at the time. I was pretty stunned, and somewhat naïve. I mean, I hadn’t seen him in over 10 years. My relatives warned me not to get my hopes up, that he was still the same person who abandoned my and my mother all those years prior. Still, we hung out, went to a carnival, and for the first time I had someone to call “dad”. We made plans for the summer, where we were going to go on a long trip together, but in typical fashion, he bailed on me. It was then I realized that it’s not about the family you want, it’s about the family you have. I had people who cared for my all along right there, and I didn’t need some asshole who didn’t want to be part of my life. Even though my relatives have since moved east and I’m now out west, I’ll never forget the lessons I learned during my time at my uncle phil and aunt viv’s place.

The hotline just told me to call another number then they told me to call this other number and basically said the same thing, "call the cops; move out." This house ROCKS! I don't want to leave!
