So I start out by running Starcraft II immediately after the reset fixing the Zerg Larva issue and I start my placements matches. First match is going just fine on Steppes of War with me killing the Zerg opponent, and just when I'm about to win the game.... I get this fantastic message.
"You have dropped", or "You are disconnected" or whatever, too pissed off to remember.
So after that fantastic luck that Zerg player got, I play another Zerg player who goes a Zergling/Baneling all-in who ends up winning because of a lag spike ruining my micro.
0-2 sigh..
Then I play another Zerg player who tries to go for a 9/10 Pool on me. I manage to win by blocking my entrance.
1-2.
I then play another Zerg player and I manage to win by going a proxy reaper rush.
2-2.
Then, I play finally a Terran player. Just when I'm about to win with banshees? Guess what?
"You were dropped."
Whoo, 2-3.
A platinum player, all this time, placed into Silver division. It was an epiphany.

Then people are just going to drop themselves as soon as they're losing, with minimal damage to their ranking. Online gaming has always had problem with latency and drops, it's unfortunately something we just have to deal with.

haha I got my entrance into platinum by:
1. beating a guy who made an extractor and nothing else
2. making dark templar, nuff said versus newbs
3. having a guy leave the game immediately
4. losing to kawaiirice (not an epic game unfortunately  )
5. beating a guy who just spammed zerglings.
Maybe next time you'll get the people I played against haha

Perhaps, but when a drop is something that you have no control over and it occurs even though your internet connection is fine, that's a different story.

95% of platinum players are terrible - you aren't missing out. It's almost like you are going to have to wait a week or two for another reset or just work your way up if you are an A+ Super Star. AAAHHHH!!!

After reset, first match I play, sc2 crashes. Second match I play, sc2 crashes. The best I can get in is silver now, assuming I don't crash again. Last round I was also silver division because of 3 wins 2 disconnects. First round I was platinum. I'm not gonna bother trying to play my way up to platinum when there's bound to be a reset soon.

They sorta do. I don't know the breakdown, but if 20% of players get into platinum, then most people on TL who play sc should be a part of that group.
