since i bought my PS3 when i had SC, i didnt buy many games for it and same goes for PSP because i never found anything that interested me in 2007-2009. So im asking Teamliquid for help! I need new games to buy in the near future. I have an infinite game taste so i wont turn down anything! Games i already have and like:
PSP: Midnight Club 3 Dubbed Edition (Sick racing game that tires you if your stuck) GTA Liberty City (First game i bought. fuck yea fun as hell till you beat it.) NBA2k10 (Pretty simple Basketball game. nonetheless, fun to play over the other nba 2010 games?)
PS3: Resident Evil 5 (I lost it before i reached the 3rd level t_t. People say the action begins around the 3rd level so fuck D: My first RE game and i guess it was a great experience) MGS4 (I borrowed it from my friend and if you dont have it, let me tell you it was hard on easy. fuck lol) Saint Row 2 (Sorta overhyped i guess but i enjoy the huge city [The only thing i hate about Liberty City is the.. small.. city..] and killing people with mah cheats and doing missions occasionally)
My very small library of games puts me to shame so pleaaaase list anygames that you enjoy or is enjoyed by alot of people.

for PS3, there's a bunch of exclusives that ppl rated high :s Rachet & Clank, infamous, killzone, etc. I haven't played any of them tho lol
I've played MSG4 and found it ridiculously boring (or hard, I suppose) The only 2 games I have for ps3 (haha I have less than you) are MSG4 and GT rologue 5. Looooove GT Prologue. Can't wait for the actual game to come out You can't enjoy a racing sim without a good wheel though. It's a pretty hefty investment.
|
MGS4 is excellent, but probably primarily for those who have been playing the series already. If you haven't played the series, I highly recommend it!
As for the games, any in particular you enjoy? (genre-wise)

i haven't even played it yet but i am going to assume GoW3 deserves to be on the list.

Valkyria Chronicles is pretty much a must have for PS3. And you can get it new for $20, so there is absolutely no reason you should pass it up.

Infamous is a really good game, same with killzone 2 and Resistance 1/2.
don't own a PSP, only game I have played for that is Final Fantasy Crisis Core, which if you like Final fantasy, it was an amazing game I found
*edit* oh and I forgot about Little Big Planet. That's a pretty cool game for Ps3 (or psp)
|
lol. Im not going to be some hardcore shooter and neglect SC! im going to use it as a party game or something since my wireless router doesnt work
|
fat princess bomberman Uncharted 2 Super Street Fighter IV soon
|
I heard the new Final Fantasy game was pretty good, if you like RPGs. I also heard Heavy Rain had a very unique gaming experience, so you may want to check that out as well.
|
Resident Evil 5 was fucking horrible garbage.
God of war collectors edition and God of War 3 are a must have.
|
You can DL PSone games off playstation network and add them to your PSP. FF7 would be worth it and the older Resident Evil games or even Metal Gear Solid.
As for just PS3 games Metal Gear solid if you're up to date on the story from the other games is simply amazing if you're a fan. Infamous I thought was a pretty fun game and had decent re playability. Resident Evil 5 was pretty bad unless you have someone to play it with you. My brother and I plowed through it together usually drinking some beers or something THAT made it fun. I really enjoyed Heavy Rain, but even with all the endings I don't know how many times you'll really want to replay it and the game is not long at all. I DO NOT enjoy the new FF at all. It could be just me, but the first... 16-20hrs is so linear and so so sooo boring. I don't really like the dialogue and don't really care for the story either. I may be in the minority on this one, but do some serious research before you consider getting this game at all, but I think the best bet is to rent it or get it from gamefly.

God of War 3 is out, right?

MGS4, that should have depreciated by half or more by now.

Wouldn't it be awesome for them to make some FF games that are like Heavy Rain in that the options you choose steer your gameplay? (If they haven't done it already, I have no idea. Haven't played one in a while).
And yes, to reiterate, MGS is a GREAT storyline.

Don't care if they're exclusive:
MGS4 Modern Warfare (both) Grand theft auto 4 Assassin's creed games Final fantasy Burnout: Paradise Dead space Little big planet Demon's souls God of war Resistance (both) Fallout Oblivion The orange box Ninja gaiden sigma (both) Resident evil
Fuck there are so many I'm sure I'm forgetting some but all of those I have played at least to some extent and they were all fun as hell.

Gran Turismo 5... THE best racing simulator in the world. 1000+ cars on like 80+ tracks, with physical damage and mechanical damage. That is f*cking intense

That would enrage a lot of users. I think they can make more games like Heavy Rain, but just develop the actual game play aspect to it a bit more.

PS3 games:
Demon's Souls God of War Collection + God of War 3 Devil May Cry 4 Darksiders MGS4 Killzone Burnout: Paradise Uncharted + Uncharted 2 ( 2 is a fucking amazing game) Valkyria Chronicles Resistance 2 RE5 Brutal Legend Street Fighter 4 (if you like fighting games) Infamous Both Ratchet and Clank Future games Heavy Rain Dead Space Dragon Age Origins Oblivion
Unless you have a specific dislike for the genre of one of the games I've mentioned above, these are all games I guarantee you will enjoy. Have fun!
|
Hey uh, if you get the hang of Oblivion, get the expansion packs...
unless you want to get bored as a level 40 Mage (or any variant) where you can't just die against enemies because of your spells.
|
no Resonance of Fate love in this thread? I'm not much of a RPG guy anymore but it brought me back to Grandia with guns (and fanservice) while I played it.

Just Cause 2 if you want to just fly around and destroy shit. Also good if you're into collecting things!
|
i've always been a Prince of Persia fan sooo yeah try/rent/borrow whatever prince of persia for ps3
|
so im getting (in order) COD MW2, Gran Turismo (when its out ), God of War 3, NBA2K10 for PS3 (I love this game), Valkyria Chronicles (lots of recommendations for this game), Just Cause 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum
I wish ihad $3000 to blow off so i can buy every game mentioned lol ;(
|
|
IMO for PSP( Most of the good ps3 stuff was recommended) MGSPO Lumines Echochrome Tekken 5: DR + Tekken 6) GOW:CoO GTA Chinatown N+ Patapon Disgaea Final Fantasy Tactics Puzzle Quest Pixel Junk Monsters Wipeout Pulse Burnout dominator
|
Most good games have been listed but i'll run down a few popular games that have I have been selling a lot. I work for Play N Trade.
Just Cause 2. FANTASTIC GAME! one of the biggest open world games i've ever seen. God of War 3 Dante's Inferno (pretty similar to GoW3) Final Fantasy 13 Assassin's Creed 2 Call of Duty MW2 - sequel to the best FPS game probably ever made. MLB The Show (if you're into sports) Borderlands - I think this is a great game for co-op its pretty long but its a fun game for you and your friend to play. Or just yourself also but I think it can get pretty boring. Socom: Confrontation - New game haven't had a chance to play it but its selling pretty good. Uncharted 2
|
I would get Just Cause 2 last, because if you are a perfectionist Just Cause 2 will take forever. I've invested 40 hours and only @ 40%.
|
Dante's Inferno is a terrible terrible game
|
Uncharted 2 also if nobody has mentioned it
|
Hmm my favorites on PS3 are:
Fifa 2010
Soul Calibur 4
Heavy Rain
GTA IV
|
Must-haves for PS3:
Uncharted 2 GoW FF13
|
If youre looking to just mess around on console games, people have mentioned enough already.
But if youre looking for a game that's as solid an investment as scbw, get on that Super Street Fighter IV =)
Mahhvel is always solid as well, but marvel was for 2000-2010, SF4 is the new decade fighter !
|
You didnt say what kind of games you are into. But regardless of that, there are some PS3 exclusive games that I consider must play
Uncharted 1/2 GOW 3 Demon Soul Heavy Rain LBP(if you have a friend/girlfriend to play with you)
If you like FPS, just dive right in with MW2, KZ2, Resistance 1/2 etc...
Some multi-plat games: Deadspace (a must if you're fan of RE series) Bioshock 1/2: 1 is actually better than 2 Dragon Age Fallout 3 Ninja Gaiden(if you love hack and slash games) FF13(not that good but its FF^^)
For PSP : Just get Monster Hunter and you are good to go ^^

Im really suprised that Battle Field: Bad Company 2 isnt recomended. Easily the best multiplayer FPS on Xbox or Ps3. I'm not a big fan of FPS on console, but i am hooked right now. The game does have some flaws, such as the leveling system (however some people like it) and maps could be a bit better.
However, gameplay can not be beat. Any play style can be used to win on any map or mode. You can camp to help your team win (pussy route). However, when you camp, your position is revealed after you kill a player and he may just respawn and return to rape your camping ass. You can also go in guns blazing, which I prefer because I can aim and pull the trigger quicker than other players.

for PSP: Patapon MH FF7 CC

I don't recommend playing Modern Warfare 2 online - the game worse than Modern Warfare 1 in terms of being realistic. Sure you get cool streaks like predator missiles, pavelows, airstrikes, chopper gunners or ac130s, and a nuke...but sometimes retarded things like getting Chopper Gunners/AC130's through Care Packages is outright fucked up.....and like how guns don't have idle sway......no can maintain a perfect steady aim on the sights.

For PS3:
MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 (download content for like 14$ I believe)
I bought this game a while back and since then have logged literally HUNDREDS of hours of gameplay. I would say other than starcraft probably greatest bang for your buck fun.

It's multiplayer on one console right?

Yes of course. It's one of the six games at Evo (biggest international fighting games tournament outside Japan) this year too, as it has been many times in the past. This is the first time they're using the PS3 port, though.
edit: Oh, and Valkyria Chronicles is the only reason I regret having a 360 instead of a PS3 at this point. For RPGs please don't overlook Resonance of Fate if you're looking for something tactically and strategically challenging.

mmm bumping this because im looking to get a good rpg for my cousin's b-day.
judging from the general reception of Valkyria Chronicles ill go with that ^^
thanks!

also: DJ Max series
p.s: DJ MAX PORTABLE 3 FUCK YEAH

Previously mentioned, but not as much as they should have been:
Uncharted 1 & 2 (sort of like playing through Indiana Jones movies, but like about TEN MILLION times as epic, especially Uncharted 2)
Heavy Rain (very intense, dramatic game, it starts a bit slow but picks WAY up in the last third - keep in mind it's very short too ~12 hours of gameplay)

3d dot game heroes is a fun game for ps3. Its a throwback to older games and plays just like zelda / a link to the past.
