I watched it because there was so much hype surrounding it, and admittedly found the premise quite intriguing. However as the plot developed I just found it got weaker and weaker and more and more silly/absurd and by the time it ended it was just a piece of shit movie. The hype is what ruined it for you. It's like getting spoilered in a way.
Another thing about oldboy that was awesome is a misleading trailer. You watched it and you expect to see a sick action movie and then you go "ooooh"

My personal list would go something like...
Darjeeling Limited Life Aquatic (I love Wes Anderson movies) Lord of the Rings: Return of the King(or all of them) The Departed Kill Bill Inglorious Basterds O Brother, Where Art Thou? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Hero
Hard for me to pick 10 because I love a lot of movies that came out this decade. Either would have to go Gladiator or Dark Knight. I'm also probably forgetting another few movies that I like more than some up there. A Harry Potter movie could of been up there, too.
p.s - I thought Avatar was trash

old boy was good for a korean movie...imo
|
How can you not have "The prestige in those lists" One of the best movies IMO.
|
I'm quite shocked that nobody has mentioned Million Dollar Baby yet ...

"If you are mature enough and can ignore a blue penis that comes up a couple times, then watch this if you haven't yet."
It's not very mature to say something like that should be ignored.

Why people keep saying "Why don't you have ___ movie?" Well, folks, it's because it's our lists and we don't care about those movies
|
R u serious?! RLY?! Ech... Here we go. My proper list: (random order) 1 Mother - Korea 2 The Host - Korea 3 Gruz 200 - Russia 4 Musa - Korea 5 A Bittersweet Life - Korea 6 Memories of Murder - Korea 7 Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War - Korea 8 Morfii (or Morfiy) - Russia 9 No Country for Old Men - USA 10 The Chaser - Korea
and ;p
Bumer, Tropa de Elite, DeUsynlige, Protege, Gran Torino, L'Ennemi intime etc. etc...
|
What happened to the Dark Knight, or is that reserved for the best move of all time?
|
Here's a hastily cobbled together list of seven in no order:
In Bruges Lord of the Rings District 9 No Country for Old Men Hero Children of Men Lost in Translation
|
4 pages and not a single mention of Pan's Labyrinth
for shame, TL.
|
wow, those were mostly some bad films and nothing really great in that entire list. Watchmen, Gladiator, and Ingourious basterds are pretty good movies but I don't know if they would even make it in the top 10 of the decade list, and the rest of those no way wtf. 60% of the shit on the list was from the last 3 years alone, so why not just make a list for the last 5 years instead.

It's an opinion and in my opinion Darjeeling Limited is better than Royal Tenenbaums. People keep posting here as if there opinions are better than the next persons. The OP made a list of movies that are his favorite movies of the decade. I own the Tenenbaums and I like it, but for you to make such a jackass comment is unnecessary.
I'd probably put Rushmore, Life Aquatic, and Darjeeling Limited ahead of Royal Tenenbaums.

Darjeeling and Royal Tenenbaums are completely different, shouldn't be compared
