I use to be able to host games no problem when I'm at using school's internet. brought the PC back home, and I can't make games... I messed with the ports and still no. whatever, but then I took my computer back to school, and I can't make games either.
Ports are all open in both cases, and I use to be able to make games when I'm at school but now I can't. I never had to mess with the internet before at all. I use portchecker and the ports are all good to go. are there any computer related settings that I could have changed unknowingly that is causing my issues???

By hosting games, I assume you mean other people can't join your games, right? Did you change the rank limit settings at all on iccup? If you did, /r l 0 0 sets the rank limit back to default.

What I had to do to get hosting games to work is to create a service on my PC which si something which isn't covered by most port forwarding help.

Is this LAN or Online?
EDIT: I'm a lurker!

Try changing the firewall setting I would imagine? I can't really think of anything else. I know on vista unless I hit run as administrator I can't even get on battle.net.
Try going into windows firewall setting and disabling it then see if you can host. If you can then re enable the firewall and allow starcraft access through it.

i think by changing the rank limit from
min:2000 max:2000
to something reasonable, i was able to fix it. feel like an idiot. i thought the thing reset it self each log-in so I never bother to see what I had set it on. QQ

Bnet has some problems with dynamic IPs, I believe

Are you using a router? Port forwarding is an issue with bnet... I hate that crap.

There is a way to fix this but it takes a lot of time, dedication, and internet research. I fixed some issues by updating my routers firmware among other things. I still can't do anything from work comps where it doesn't lag to hell.
