On Chinese tables, hold down your liquor will get you massive respect.

I've never had soju, is it any good? I hear a lot of people mix it, but how's the taste straight?

People:
Russia, at this point in history, is entirely in Asia. I hereby extend the definition of "Asian" to boundaries never before seen (in this thread)! Hereafter, Russians are Asians!
Let the vodka jokes commence?

Soju is sweet (Or maybe it's because I drink the plum one). Not as strong at the start, you won't get the sort of burning sensation of baiju or vodka. It is however stronger than Sake which is piss weak.
Good to drink cold though. I would never touch baiju or sake cold.

But drinking soju when having Korean BBQ with some friends in a cozy restaurant in winter is superb. I love the way Koreans give respect to older when they pour them the drinks. And younger Koreans have to turn their head not to face the older while they emty their cup, very strange, but cute

Soju is gross. The only reason I drink it in Korea is because it's so cheap.

my point is i don't think customs should be criticized so easily.
