Try to open up your laptop and CLEAN the DUST that cover your CPU and GRPAHIC CARD cooler. If you dont know how to open up your laptop. Google your way through, if you laptop is 1 to 2 years old it should be very easy to open up and clean it. Dont buy a external cooler since it doesnt do much. I am pretty sure that after you clean your heatsink and fan your laptop will run at the temp when you bought it :D

I am pretty mad at hp for selling laptops that overheat like this, and don't think I'm going to buy another laptop from them. I think the integrated graphics + amd turion processor + hp's crappy design engineers is the problem. I found these huge aluminum heat sinks at work (6" x 7.5" x 1.25") and I put my laptop on them. I also have this thermal conductive material between the laptop and the heatsink to transfer the heat. I would recommend buying a laptop cooler though, like these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=laptop cooler&x=0&y=0

The last time I cleaned it the temperature dropped >10° from over 60°C to under 50°C. If you don't know how to open your laptop contact the support. They can send you a disassemble guide and with that its very easy to clean it. I just saw that you have a HP Pavillion. HP has an online support chat here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/chat_1.html just ask them about the disasemble pdf. I had a look for you, this is the service and maintenance guide for a Pavillion dv5 http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01550108.pdf In Chapter 4 it's described how to disassemble the laptop. you need to get to the FAN there will be the dust heating up your laptop. Pay attention to the ESD guidlines though it's not as dramatic as they are describing it :D just make sure you are grounded waering no shoes is better if you do stuff like this (better ground ;D)
