Just saw some good deals from my fav brand for computer accessories from a reputable store, BEST BUY. So i just though i would share, but sense this is more or less just ads i put this in blog format.

The mouse i have and i love, i went from MX518->G5->G500
i find the ergo shape quite good for my hand.

The headset ionno about i use an older headset and plan on getting a 5.1 or 7.1 headset in the future.

G500 mouse from logitech $39.99

It seems that if you add "gaming" to any computer peripheral, you can charge an extra 10 dollars, at least.
EDIT: My point is that even though they are "good deals", they still aren't at a decent price.

I don't understand why people use MX518 and G5 etc for sc.. they have like 10 extra buttons on them which have no purpose for sc. Why not get something more simple..? like razer salmosa, or just some generic logitech one

Anyways the best part of the G500 is the scroll wheel for non gaming purposes, it has 2 settings a click scroll wheel and a "near frictionless" scroll wheel, the near frictionless one is so great for surfing the web.

As far as the whole 10 extra buttons, the left side buttons main purpose is for surfing the web to use it as a forward or backwards button shortcut. Again very useful imo. And with logitech macro software you can easily bind it to do anything you want, although i amit i never actually use it outside of websurfing lol.

Imo the G500 although it's a "gaming" mouse the most useful functions i've found for it is outside of gaming. As it's good to hold for long periods and is browser friendly.

Other then that the only gaming part it has is the ability to handle high acceleration and have a high dpi along with a full 1000hz pooling.

I mean i've never really needed "on-the-fly" sensitivity changing although it doesn't make me prep the mouse before booting the game it's something very easily done via software off the mouse, although is a nice touch.

I never found a use for weights, i like light as possible mice.

Macro i've found uses for but it's usually outside of games.

High very customizable DPI i've found quite useful as i've gone though several LCD over the vast years and some bigger then others.

Their 2 mode scroll wheel is very useful (again i love the hyper fast mode)although i have a very wide screen and i rarely use the ability for it to click left and right to scroll left and right useful i'm sure i would use it more if websites i went to where poorly coded.

And although it does technically have 10 buttons you realise that 2 of those are usually meant for higher and lower dpi on the fly changing, 2 more are used for scrolling left and right, and the other 3 are generic standard browser compatible buttons found on most mice over 5 bucks, while the last 3 are the usual left right and middle button.

About the whole adding 10 bucks and calling a mouse a gaming mouse that's more of something i have with razer and their re-inventing the same mouse 10 times a year esp with their pushing of 3G optical technology for their optical and lazer mice. Don't get me wrong they have some great products (i mostly eye their wireless mice) but it seems like they want a new product cycle faster then how many times people actually buy mice over a period of time which to me is concerning not reassuring about their product support. As some their older stuff lacks full win 7 x86 and x64 support and people have had to find workaround that.

So what if i spend 40 60 bucks on a mouse i use them for 2+ years hell my old G5 and MX518 never broke down, they work pretty much as new and would work and feel as new if i cleaned them and replaced the feat. If that mouse is even used for 2 years that only 20 30 bucks a year on a mouse and considering on how much i spend on other crap for my computer, that's just pennies to a good investment.

So, you must use a mouse with no scroll wheel, since that has no purpose for SC right?

omg i was working on a friends computer the mouse had no scroll wheel i felt so bad holding that mouse having to go to the left and clicking and holing the scroll bar on websites felt like so much work haha i guess I've become spoiled with newer tech considering just a few years ago i had to go though that to scroll though websites.

Best buy is the biggest fucking rip off bullshit place in the world. It really goes to show how much the general public knows about electronics when places like that stay in business.

S video/hdmi cable for nearly 30$, Xbox install for 130$, Power cord extension wand for 20$, etc. I have gotten 25$ gift cards for that place and NEVER been able to find something worth the money without having to shell out my own cash to cover their rip off mark ups.

Even their fucking candy and low priority impulse items are like 3 times the normal price.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

MX815 has just 8 buttons including normal right/left click and scroll button. I don't use just 3 buttons but they could be useful on other games than sc.
Get mouse that fits your hand well and feels good to use. Same goes on headset.

I use a G5. It fits my hand very well, feels nice, and I switch between running man 2 and running man 3 for SC and CS respectively (although I'm horrible and only play for fun on CS). Also the two thumb buttons I use very very often while just surfing TL or something (back and forward buttons)

Conclusion: why do you give a fuck?

I don't use the MX518 for extra buttons for SC. I use it because it fits comfortably in my hand (larger size and a bit heavier). The DPI on it is also high enough that it makes SCing pretty accurate.

It also allows you to switch DPIs with the click of a button. This is nice for playing other games with lower/higher DPI needs. I also amp up my DPI when I use more than 1 screen so I can move around quicker.

Overall, I just feel like it's a nicely designed mouse.
