All I have is this stupid little beep. I have my own ringtones that I chopped up and emailed to my phone for different callers.
But they are too long and loud for a text msg alert. Anyone got any good ideas for some texting tones?
I was thinking along the lines of sound effects from video games (starcraft, mario, etc) But I'm open to anything. (I'd probably prefer something that doesn't have a voice in it though.)
Anyone know of a place that has a large selection?

PS- I will probably make a bunch of different ones and zip them up and host it (with instructions how to get onto your phone) if anyone wants that when i'm done.
There's an old game called Starsiege: Tribes. With this game had a fantastic community, and they compiled a pack of, at the time, popculture one-onlines from all sorts of things. Movies, games, sitcoms, etc.
It's litereally hundreds of sound bites that were tied together using mods inside the game, brings back memories for me but it could serve you well.
Oh sh, sorry, forgot to mention all the sound files are located in the .vol file. To extract the files just use the self-executable in the link below. It's simple.

Like the magestrate one, and the star trek one, (really nerdy though). Also I'd prefer them to be 5-10 seconds at most. Mario 1up sound is what I had in mind when I made this thread.

I just went through one of those long sessions with BWSound utility because of this; I might just use a random Japanese Terran Advisor sound, but that Receiving transmission sound bit is awesome.

haha i just spent a while thinking of this very topic i tried the MGS, the zelda item gets, the sc sounds etc.. in the end i settled on a voice-based one
i'll probably get bored of it in a few weeks but til then, i'm lovin it =D

Yes, as I intended to imply I realized that and simply was pointing out that mine was similar from another part of sc.
