Team meetings
+ Show Spoiler +Team meeting #3: Daniel cannot attend tonights meeting because a black hole appeared and ripped the fabric of space-time causing him to hurtle into the future (Thursday) and therefore already missed the meeting. However, he posted us a laundry list of to-do items from the future. Team meeting tonight is not mandatory, but always nice to meet and greet other members. Also, I think it would be best if we all have our builds for our upcoming match prepared and send it in pm to coach choe. We can also all try out our build against coach (and each other) multiple times in order to better see the weaknesses and strengths. List from the Future: 1. By now you guys should all know... what unit you use well, what BO fits you on the map you're playing in, and how to combine & maximize those strengths you have. So, STICK TO IT AND POLISH IT. Doesn't matter if your best unit and best BO makes you do zergling all-in all the friggin time, as long as you planned on it and practiced until you are PERFECT at it. 2. KEEP UP WITH MACRO DRILL!! I mean, hopefully you guys are all already masters of macro even without friendly(?) reminders thrown at you every 30 seconds, but if not, that's ok, you still got a week to practice, and a week is enough to become a macro master (micro takes a long time to develop, so i'll micro-train you guys AFTER y'all master macro) 3. Review ALL replays you saved since beginning of training (I assume you guys kept up with the homework from 1st team meeting?). Review games you won AND games you lost, and try to analyze and remember WHY you won or lost. Even better, review your replays with other teammates, since they might see and point out things that YOU may have missed. 4. Finally... It's good to be critical when you practice, but even so, NEVER lose confidence in your BO and your skills. Win rate vs random people is not necessarily an indication that you picked a wrong BO. It's more likely that it's not polished enough, you made a stupid mistake, or the opponent was lucky. If still in doubt, PM/AIM me and ask to play sometime - I'll be the judge of what's right/wrong. Team meeting #2: Evaluation of training. We discussed how the team is looking and discussed the lineups for next week's match against Jessica SNSD. Make sure you don't post anything here about the lineups.. :D Homework for the week: 1. Review the sim-cities for each map. You can use coach choe's suggestions or practice your own if you prefer. Sim-City pack should have been emailed out to everyone a few days ago. Not all of Coach's walls are ling tight as pointed out by Stephen. Practice and memorize the sim-cities for your map. Also, Sim city 2000 > Sim City 4 2. Train in Team melee mode. Preferably with same race partners but not required. One person will play while the other person reminds the player to macro. Or the person not playing can just yell at the player in hopes of distracting them. Remember, if you can play your best while having crude and explicit imagery throw at you via b.net chat, you can play your best ANYWHERE. Team meeting #1: Introductions, and meeting everyone. Especially important, everyone stated their favorite food. Probably the most critical element to us playing starcraft at a high level so it's important to remember that. We will be using AIM as the primary method of communication. Members are expected to be active and be online (either aim or iccup) as much as possible. Weekly meetings will take place on Wednesdays at 9pm EST in the channel MIK on iCCup. (or east if iCCup is down) Also, try to make sure all games are played on Obs maps and save replays for review. Homework for the week: 1. Follow professional Starcraft. Matches can be seen live through streams on the right OR all matches will be posted in the small VOD thread http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=508752. Learn the CPL maps. All players are expected to know all key locations and the necessary sim-cities for their race in EACH starting location. 3. Make sure you have everyone's iCCup name in your friends list and everyone's AIM name on your buddy list. (Listed below) If your aim is not listed below, or you do not have one, post it in this blog and I will update the roster. I personally recommend using www.meebo.com for AIM since you don't need to download anything

As for team name suggestions, it's really hard to come up with a team name not knowing much about the people in our team. I like the idea of Ozw/oJD but it's kind of... ugly looking. haha. I'll let you guys know if I come up with anything.

Hey guys, I am really REALLY sorry, but something JUST came up, and I can't attend tonite's team meeting. So, I'll post the announcements here, and if you guys have any individual questions or comments, feel free to PM/AIM me anytime.

The last four pages of the CPL thread are hilarious! True 9 hatch is a bit cheesy, but it is by no means invincible and Aware even used the build that is MOST effective at stopping it and still lost.

Wow, just read the CPL threads, and funny how so many ppl have the wrong idea about "improvement".
I mean, maybe it's just me, but I thought 1st step towards improvement was to learn to do 1 BO really well (cheese or not), AND learn to counter all kinds of cheese.
How can they complain when they lost because they failed to do both, and say it wasn't fair? :/

Do not misunderstand me; I have never said it ''wasn't fair''. Cheese is just as legitimate as any other strategy, and it was indeed my own fault that I lost that game (Xenocide did of course execute his strat quite nicely (good preparation, yo!), but the game went the way it did mostly due to my retardation).
All I have said is that I don't really think that extensively preparing all-in builds that would only work once is a great way of becoming a good SC player.

I just played a ZvT. I thought i was owning. Noob didn't even build turrets at the right time. (Muta harass however was not effective due to rather impressive marine micro/macro). Then smoothly transitioned to lurkers. Had 4 gas. Hive going up, carapace upgrade almost done, sunken at my 3rd, 3 sunkens at nat, sunken/2lurkers at 4th, and a solid 7 lurker mass ling army holding the center ramp on Match Point.
Soon, I realize that he has been sneaking M&M around my semi-contain and is moving towards my 3rd base. I think, lolol even if you take out my 3rd, I'll own your face. Send about 20ish lings to intercept/scout his army.

Possibly the largest M&M army I have ever seen at that timing (or any other timing really.) Doesn't even pause to attack my 3rd, just a-moves into my nat. Somehow has like 50 Vessels. M&M army is the size of every single marine Stephen and Nick ever made, combined.
Lesson learned? Don't fuck with B level terrans at D rank.

I don't know how to say it, but my short lived "want to get serious about starcraft and playhardcore so I can pwn noobs" mission, I think is going to come to an end.
=\ I dont know, I jsut don't have the motivation to practice harrd, and I find watching starcraft is more entertaining than playing it. Not too sure why, but I just can't play seriously. I guess i'm the type of guy who plays games for fun..and althougH i LOVE starcraft, it is not fun when i do play =(.

I understand, Xclusive. I get that feeling sometimes too. Once you realize how much work you actually need to put in just to climb the ranks on ICCUP, it can be a daunting. I don't look at it as you letting us down, because what's the point in playing a game and trying to master it if it's not enjoyable

We planned out what everyone ordered so that we could all share got a chance to try out the best stuff.
First they bring out a variety of small side dishes called 'Banchan', the most representative Korean food among them being Kimchee.
When they give you Banchan you get a ton! The thing in the middle is where they put the stone grill where you'll cook some of your food.
Here's what we all ordered:
Bul Go Gi:
Savory prime beef thinly sliced and marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, sugar, green onions and pepper, flamed on a grill.
Dolsot Woo Dong:
Thick noodle soup with fish cake, half boiled egg, mushrooms, and onions in a mild broth. Served boiling in a stone pot.
Vegetable Tempura:
Mul Naeng Myun: Korea's food of choice during summer, buck wheat noodles in ice cold beef broth. Topped with sliced beef brisket, pickled radish and a boiled egg.
Kal Bi:
Sizzling hot tender beef short ribs marinated with a rich combination of soy sauce, rice wine, and vegetables.

Sorry guys I had no internet last night so I couldn't make it to the meeting. Comcast came over to install fiber-optic service and the whole thing ended up being a pain because they had to run like a whole new line from the pole outside to our house. Just got everything up and running today.

hey guys! just wanted to say why i havent been on line AT ALL T_T
basically i had sent me computer to be fixed beginning of winter because it wasnt booting up.. well.. anything. The peoples said that they fixed it and it worked up until a week or two ago and the problem came back sooo its in the shoop once again until saturday. SO hopefully ill be back to help everyone prepare to roflstomp in the finals!

Altair just pm'd me. Discussion of the finals are back on the table. I know a lot of you guys are playing SC2 now...but do you think we can just hammer this thing out and do a quick BO5? I don't even know if we can get Face_ back to play.
